Abstract In this paper we consider iterated function systems (IFS) on the real line consisting of continuous piecewise linear functions. We assume some bounds on the contraction ratios of the functions, but we do not assume any separation condition. Moreover, we do not require that the functions of the IFS are injective, but we assume that their derivatives are separated from zero. We prove that if we fix all the slopes but perturb all other parameters, then for all parameters outside of an exceptional set of less than full packing dimension, the Hausdorff dimension of the attractor is equal to the exponent which comes from the most natural system of covers of the attractor.

We construct transcendental entire functions whose Julia sets have packing dimension in ( 1 , 2 ) (1,2) . These are the first examples where the computed packing dimension is not 1 1 or 2 2 . Our analysis will allow us further show that the set of packing dimensions attained is dense in the interval ( 1 , 2 ) (1,2) , and that the Hausdorff dimension of the Julia sets can be made arbitrarily close to the corresponding packing dimension.

This paper investigates the algorithmic dimension spectra of lines in the Euclidean plane. Given any line L with slope a and vertical intercept b, the dimension spectrum sp ( L ) is the set of all effective Hausdorff dimensions of individual points on L. We draw on Kolmogorov complexity and geometrical arguments to show that if the effective Hausdorff dimension dim ( a , b ) is equal to the effective packing dimension Dim ( a , b ), then sp ( L ) contains a unit interval. We also show that, if the dimension dim ( a , b ) is at least one, then sp ( L ) is infinite. Together with previous work, this implies that the dimension spectrum of any line is infinite.

Abstract As in the recent article of M. Balcerzak, T. Filipczak and P. Nowakowski, we identify the family CS of central Cantor subsets of [0, 1] with the Polish space X : = (0, 1)ℕ equipped with the probability product measure µ. We investigate the size of the family P 0 of sets in CS with packing dimension zero. We show that P 0 is meager and of µ measure zero while it is treated as the corresponding subset of X. We also check possible inclusions between P 0 and other subfamilies CS consisting of small sets.

We consider a space of infinite signals composed of letters from a finite alphabet. Each signal generates a sequence of empirical measures on the alphabet and the limit set corresponding to this sequence. The space of signals is partitioned into narrow basins consisting of signals with identical limit sets for the sequence of empirical measures and for each narrow basin its packing dimension is computed. Furthermore, we compute packing dimensions for two other types of basins defined in terms of limit behaviour of the empirical measures.

In this paper, we construct a class of special homogeneous Moran sets: m k -quasi-homogeneous perfect sets, and obtain the Hausdorff dimension of the sets under some conditions. We also prove that the upper box dimension and the packing dimension of the sets can get the maximum value of the homogeneous Moran sets under the condition sup k ≥ 1 m k < ∞ and estimate the upper box dimension of the sets in two cases.

Abstract We prove a number of results concerning the Hausdorff and packing dimension of sets of points which escape (at least in average) to infinity at a given rate under non-autonomous iteration of exponential maps. In particular, we generalize the results proved by Sixsmith in 2016 and answer his question on annular itineraries for exponential maps.

In this paper, we mainly research on Hadamard fractional integral of Besicovitch function. A series of propositions of Hadamard fractional integral of [Formula: see text] have been proved first. Then, we give some fractal dimensions of Hadamard fractional integral of Besicovitch function including Box dimension, [Formula: see text]-dimension and Packing dimension. Finally, relationship between the order of Hadamard fractional integral and fractal dimensions of Besicovitch function has also been given.
