A number of physically intuitive results for the calculation of multi-time correlations in phase-space representations of quantum mechanics are obtained. They relate time-dependent stochastic samples to multi-time observables, and rely on the presence of derivative-free operator identities. In particular, expressions for time-ordered normal-ordered observables in the positive-P distribution are derived which replace Heisenberg operators with the bare time-dependent stochastic variables, confirming extension of earlier such results for the Glauber-Sudarshan P. Analogous expressions are found for the anti-normal-ordered case of the doubled phase-space Q representation, along with conversion rules among doubled phase-space s-ordered representations. The latter are then shown to be readily exploited to further calculate anti-normal and mixed-ordered multi-time observables in the positive-P, Wigner, and doubled-Wigner representations. Which mixed-order observables are amenable and which are not is indicated, and explicit tallies are given up to 4th order. Overall, the theory of quantum multi-time observables in phase-space representations is extended, allowing non-perturbative treatment of many cases. The accuracy, usability, and scalability of the results to large systems is demonstrated using stochastic simulations of the unconventional photon blockade system and a related Bose-Hubbard chain. In addition, a robust but simple algorithm for integration of stochastic equations for phase-space samples is provided.

<p style='text-indent:20px;'>We investigate Hardy-Rellich inequalities for perturbed Laplacians. In particular, we show that a non-trivial angular perturbation of the free operator typically improves the inequality, and may also provide an estimate which does not hold in the free case. The main examples are related to the introduction of a magnetic field: this is a manifestation of the diamagnetic phenomenon, which has been observed by Laptev and Weidl in [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="b21">21</xref>] for the Hardy inequality, later by Evans and Lewis in [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="b9">9</xref>] for the Rellich inequality; however, to the best of our knowledge, the so called Hardy-Rellich inequality has not yet been investigated in this regards. After showing the optimal inequality, we prove that the best constant is not attained by any function in the domain of the estimate.</p>

Abstract In this paper, we consider discrete Schrödinger operators of the form, $$\begin{equation*} (Hu)(n) = u({n+1})+u({n-1})+V(n)u(n). \end{equation*}$$We view $H$ as a perturbation of the free operator $H_0$, where $(H_0u)(n)= u({n+1})+u({n-1})$. For $H_0$ (no perturbation), $\sigma _{\textrm{ess}}(H_0)=\sigma _{\textrm{ac}}(H)=[-2,2]$ and $H_0$ does not have eigenvalues embedded into $(-2,2)$. It is an interesting and important problem to identify the perturbation such that the operator $H_0+V$ has one eigenvalue (finitely many eigenvalues or countable eigenvalues) embedded into $(-2,2)$. We introduce the almost sign type potentials and develop the Prüfer transformation to address this problem, which leads to the following five results. 1: We obtain the sharp spectral transition for the existence of irrational type eigenvalues or rational type eigenvalues with even denominators.2: Suppose $\limsup _{n\to \infty } n|V(n)|=a&lt;\infty .$ We obtain a lower/upper bound of $a$ such that $H_0+V$ has one rational type eigenvalue with odd denominator.3: We obtain the asymptotical behavior of embedded eigenvalues around the boundaries of $(-2,2)$.4: Given any finite set of points $\{ E_j\}_{j=1}^N$ in $(-2,2)$ with $0\notin \{ E_j\}_{j=1}^N+\{ E_j\}_{j=1}^N$, we construct the explicit potential $V(n)=\frac{O(1)}{1+|n|}$ such that $H=H_0+V$ has eigenvalues $\{ E_j\}_{j=1}^N$.5: Given any countable set of points $\{ E_j\}$ in $(-2,2)$ with $0\notin \{ E_j\}+\{ E_j\}$, and any function $h(n)&gt;0$ going to infinity arbitrarily slowly, we construct the explicit potential $|V(n)|\leq \frac{h(n)}{1+|n|}$ such that $H=H_0+V$ has eigenvalues $\{ E_j\}$.

Assistant robots are widely used in laparoscopic surgery to facilitate the camera holding and manipulation task. A variety of a hands-free operator interfaces have been implemented for user control of the robots, including voice commands, foot pedals, and eye and head motion tracking systems. This paper proposes a novel user control interface, based on processing of the laparoscopic images, that enables the robot to automatically adjust the view of the laparoscopic camera without disturbing the surgeon’s concentration. An effective marker-free detection method was investigated to track the instrument position in the laparoscopic images in real time so that the robot could center the instrument tip in the camera view. Considering several available methods it was found that a color space analysis, based on the quantitative comparison of the background’s and instrument’s pixels color contexts, provides the best results. The color contexts were presented in covariance matrix and mean values and analyzed using Mahalanobis distance measure in RGB color space. Tests on laparoscopic images with controlled conditions, e.g., sufficient light and low noises, revealed 86 percent correct detection with a processing rate of 3.7 frames per second on a conventional PC. Further work is going on to improve the algorithm.

It is shown that a condition of Kurzwell concerning fixed-points of certain operators on a finite group G is sufficient to ensure that G is soluble. The result generalizes those of Martineau on elementary abelian fixed-point-free operator groups.
