The distanced closeness. The model of ecumenical relations between Catholics and Protestants – sociological contexts

The article deals with the nature of ecumenical relations between Catholics and Protestants. In order to grasp their specificity, they are compared with everyday relations which are not focused on building religious unity between these Christians. This analysis served to reconstruct the model of ecumenism presented on the websites of Catholic weeklies. Additionally, a reflection has been undertaken on the possibility of supporting the ecumenical movement by these services. The analysis is conducted in the sociological perspective on the basis of empirical studies of the content of the Internet services of the Catholic weekly magazines “Gość Niedzielny” and “Niedziela”. Content analysis was applied as a research method, and the texts dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the Reformation were studied. This selection of empirical material resulted from the fact that ecumenical themes are rarely taken up in the Catholic press, and the jubilee caused greater interest in them. The sources used were also found research on interfaith relations. The analysis shows that relations between Catholics and Protestants are close and characterised by openness, but they are also marked by distance and remembrance of a difficult history. Moreover, the model of ecumenism promoted by the websites is superficial and concentrates, among other things, on its practical aspect at the expense of its spiritual and theological dimension. The websites of Catholic weekly newspapers, on the other hand, face a hitherto untapped opportunity to support the ecumenical movement.

Benedykta XVI modlitwa za Żydów w dawnej wielkopiątkowej modlitwie powszechnej – implikacje dla dialogu międzyreligijnego

Zgodnie z wolą papieża Benedykta XVI ryt rzymski posiada dwie formy: zwyczajną i nadzwyczajną. Wielki Tydzień i Triduum Sacrum można obchodzić w nadzwyczajnej formie rytu rzymskiego. W 2008 roku papież Benedykt XVI zmienił formułę specjalnej modlitwy za żydów w liturgii Wielkiego Piątku. Artykuł ukazuje historię zmian tej modlitwy, teologię tekstu oraz implikacje teologiczne dla dialogu międzyreligijnego pomiędzy Kościołem katolickim a judaizmem. Liturgia katolicka może stanowić przestrzeń szczególną, w której wyraża się teologia. Dlatego każdy dialog teologiczny musi traktować liturgię jako bardzo ważne miejsce źródeł katolickiej doktryny i stanowiska teologicznego. Niezwykle pomocny w zrozumieniu współczesnej myśli Kościoła katolickiego na temat żydów i judaizmu był esej emerytowanego papieża na temat relacji między Kościołem a judaizmem.

Jewish community in Cieszowa in Upper Silesia (1737-1904) and the efforts of Fr. Karl Urban to save its material and spiritual heritage

When in 1908 in Cieszowa, one of the oldest Jewish communities in Upper Silesia, buildings of the dissolved Kehilla were put up for auction, Fr. Karl Urban (1864-1923), the priest of the parish of St. Joseph in Sadów, to which Cieszowa also belonged, purchased a synagogue with the surrounding outbuildings from his own resources, thus protecting them from inevitable liquidation. Cieszowa was one of four villages in Upper Silesia, in which Jews were ordered to reside during Prussian settlement bans, issued in the 1770s and 1780s. The article briefly describes the history of the Jewish community in Silesia, with the emphasis on the religious community set up by them in Cieszowa. In addition, the circumstances of the auctioning of local buildings in 1908 and their purchase by Fr. Karl Urban were described. The author focused on the activity of Fr. Urban, aimed at creating a religious and museum memorial site. Moreover, the author undermines the popular opinion involving the demolition of wooden monuments, allegedly after 1911, postponing the time of their destruction for the years after the death of Fr. Urban, i.e. after 1923.

Les fake news et le croire chrétien en milieux africains. Approche d’un phénomène médiatique et sociopolitique

Cette étude veut répondre à une préoccupation : savoir contextualiser tout discours théologique. En ce sens, elle s’attèle sur les enjeux du croire chrétien dans un monde marqué les infox. Tout en établissant dès le départ que l’existence des fausses nouvelles est intrinsèquement liée à l’humanité, mais que de nos jours, leur viralité est concomitante de l’évolution du numérique, les exemples analysés dans cet article montrent que les fake news demeurent également en Afrique un phénomène sociopolitique et médiatique aux impacts multiples. C’est dans ce cadre des enjeux de la foi en Afrique face aux fausses nouvelles que l’étude examine la richesse symbolique de la tradition chrétienne pour nommer le faux et sa conception de la vérité avant de formuler, dans une perspective œcuménique et interreligieuse, des pistes de réflexion pour la foi comme acte de discernement dans sa rencontre avec les fake news.

Ad hoc prayer spaces – a challenge of the architecture of the 21th century

This article considers the problem of arranging places of prayer in the vicinity of universities and dormitories. A survey was conducted among students living in the dormitories of the Gdańsk University of Technology in order to determine if there was a real need to arrange such spaces. Subsequently, examples of temporary chapels designed in the last 20 years in Western European countries were presented. Analysis of the selected facilities and discussions based on literature studies made it possible to draw conclusions on the possibilities and ways of shaping temporary prayer spaces in the often historic and crowded university environments. The research included in situ investigations.

Dwa typy reformacyjnych liturgii Wieczerzy Polskiej

W artykule najpierw zostały krótko ukazane wybrane tendencje i fenomeny, spotykane w pobożności późnego średniowiecza, które pośrednio lub bezpośrednio wpłynęły na kształtowanie się życia liturgicznego reformacji. Następnie w głównej części przedłożenia omówiono dwa zasadnicze typy liturgii Wieczerzy Pańskiej, które ukonstytuowały się w pierwszych latach reformacji: tzw. typ mszalny oraz tzw. typ górnoniemiecki. Przedstawiono genezę, proces kształtowania się i strukturę najważniejszych prototypów liturgii Wieczerzy bez szczegółowego analizowania licznych obrządków na nich wzorowanych. W końcowej części artykułu reformacyjne liturgie Wieczerzy Pańskiej zostały w ogólny sposób scharakteryzowane ze wskazaniem na ich istotne różnice i podobieństwa.
