The stability constants of metal complexes of 2-hydroxy-5-methylazobenzene-2′-carboxylic acid have been determined spectrophotometrically. These follow the Irving–Williams sequence: log KOH(H) = 10.67, log K1(Co) = 9.02, log K1(Ni) = 9.68, log K1(Cu) = 13.37, log K1(Zn) = 7.58, and [Formula: see text]The chelates of Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), and [Formula: see text] with the dye have been prepared and characterized on the basis of their ir and reflectance spectra.

Synthesis and characterization of a newN"-[(1Z,2E)-2- (Hydroxyimino)-1-phenylpropylidene]-N"'-[(1E)-phenylmethylene]thiocarbonohydrazide and its metal complexes with Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) metal ions. The ligand synthesis and characterization is reported for first time. The complexes of divalent metal ions were synthesized in 1:2 molar proportion using ethanol as solvent. The ligands as well as its metal complexes were characterized using various physicochemical techniques such as elemental analysis, spectral and magnetic measurements and electrical conductivity measurements in case of the metal complexes only. The data for the metal complexes reveals that they may be represented by ML2. The metal complexes show interesting features of coordination structure.

Metal complexes of some divalent metal ions (Co, Ni, Cu and Zn) with 3-(?- acetylethylidenehydrazino)-5,6-diphenyl-1,2,4-triazine (AHDT) as a Schiff-base have been investigated potentiometrically and spectrophotometrically and found to have the stoichiometric formulae 1:1 and 1:2 (M:L). The formation constants of the proton-ligand and metal-ligand complexes have been determined potentiometrically at different temperatures (10, 20, 30, 40 and 50?C) at an ionic strength of 0.1MKNO3 in 75%(v/v) dioxane-water solution. The standard thermodynamic parameters, viz. ?Go, ?Ho, and ?So, for the proton-ligand and the stepwise metal-ligand complexes have been evaluated.

AbstractMetal complexes of some divalent metal ions (Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Hg, and Pd) with isatin-β-thiosemicarbazone (ITS) as the Schiff base have been investigated potentiometrically and spectrophotometrically. The dissociation constants of the ligand and formation constants of the metal complexes, as well as the corresponding thermodynamic functions (ΔG, ΔH and ΔS) have been determined at different temperatures in ethanol—water solution. The full stability constants were also evaluated spectrophotometrically by the Job method. The experimental results indicate that Cu(II), Zn(II), Pd(II), and Hg(II) form one-to-one molecular complexes (ML) with the studied ligand, whereas Co(II) and Ni(II) form both ML and ML2 species.
