The lipid-soluble extract of Perithalia caudata has been shown to contain 4-(1'',1''-dimethylprop-2-enyl)-2-(3''-methylbut-2''-enyl)phenol (1), which is the first example known of a naturally occurring phenol bearing a reversed isoprene unit in the para position.
