In a case study, the main objective was to compare three sites with different grazing pressures in Hvitarsida, W-Iceland in relation to current vegetation, seed bank composition and the correlation between those. Our results show that there were significant difference in species composition in above and belowground, giving very little similarity in species composition between seed bank and current vegetation composition. The only exceptions were Agrostis capillaris and Bistorta vivipara that had close similarity between current aboveground vegetation and soil seed bank. Agrostis capillaris had a great abundance in all the sites and Bistorta vivipara proliferates mostly with bulbils that most likely were numerous in the soil. The results of our study agree with current theories on seed bank composition and similar studies,that the similarity between current above ground vegetation and soil seed bank depends on current dominant species (annual or perennial)and the productivity (high or low) of the site.Mongolian Journal of Agricultural Sciences Vol.13(2) 2014: 105-113

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari variabilitas genetik, heritabilitas, dan menyeleksi penampilan genotipe karakter agronomi unggul pada 57 galur sawi untuk digunakan dalam bahan baku konsumsi dan industri. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Seed Bank and Nursery, Agrotechno Park Universitas Brawijaya, Desa Jatikerto, Kecamatan Kromengan, Kabupaten Malang pada bulan Desember 2018 – April 2019. Metode yang digunakan untuk penelitian ini adalah rancangan acak kelompok diperluas (augmented design). Perlakuan yang diberikan adalah 60 genotipe sawi yang terdiri dari 57 genotipe yang diuji dan 3 varietas sebagai cek. Genotipe yang diuji akan disebar kedalam 5 blok, sedangkan tiga varietas cek akan ditanam pada setiap blok, sehingga terdapat 72 satuan percobaan. Variabel pengamatan karakter agronomi terdiri dari 15 karakter kualitatif dan 24 karakter kuantitatif. Variabilitas yang luas terdapat pada karakter biji per polong, jumlah polong per tanaman, dan berat segar. Heritabilitas tinggi terdapat pada karakter panjang kotiledon, jumlah daun konsumsi, berat segar, umur panen benih, jumlah polong per tanaman, panjang polong, lebar polong, dan jumlah biji per polong. Terdapat galur-galur sawi yang mempunyai karakter unggul untuk bahan baku konsumsi dan industri.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji keanekaragaman jenis tumbuhan penyusun vegatasi kawasan ekosistem Taman Nasional Gunung Leuser yang mengalami kerusakan akibat pembukaan perkebunan kelapa sawit dengan menggunakan teknologi seed bank. Waktu penelitian berlangsung mulai bulan April sampai September 2018. Pengambilan sampel tanah menggunakan metode jalur. Pada jalur pengamatan diambil cuplikan sampel tanah sesuai dengan kondisi tutupan tajuk dan kerapatan vegetasi yang dibagi menjadi 3 titik yaitu jarang, sedang dan rapat. Kemudian masing-masing titik diambil sampel tanah secara random  sebanyak 3 kali ulangan dengan menggunakan kotak besi berukuran 25 x 25 cm sedalam: (i) 0-5 cm, (ii) 5-10 cm, (iii) 10-15 cm. Tanah kemudian dimasukkan kedalam kantong plastik dengan menggunakan cangkul kemudian diberi label.ampel tanah kemudian disimpan di dalam rumah kaca untuk selanjutnya dilakukan uji perkecambahan. Informasi tentang cadangan biji di dalam tanah penting dalam studi ekologi komunitas karena dapat menggambarkan vegetasi yang ada di atasnya dan mengetahui potensi jenis tanaman lain yang akan tumbuh di habitat tersebut. Dari hasil penelitian ditemukan 13 famili dengan 18 jenis yang tumbuh pada bak-bak penelitian yang terdiri dari 7 jenis pohon dan 11 jenis golongan tumbuhan bawah dengan jumlah seluruhnya adalah 366 spesies. Dari hasil kekayaan jenis kecambah yang tumbuh pada bak pengamatan didapatkan nilai KR, FR dan INP tertinggi terdapat pada jenis Melastoma malabathricum dengan nilai KR (63,115 %), nilai FR (32,692 %) dan INP (95,807 %). Sedangkan untuk nilai terendah terdapat pada jenis Cocculus hirsutus dengan nilai KR (0,273 %), FR (0,962 %) dan INP (1,235 %). Jenis dan jumlah kecambah sangat dipengaruhi oleh ketinggian tempat dan tidak dipengaruhi oleh kedalaman tanah. Jumlah biji terbanyak yang ditemukan di lantai hutan adalah jenis Macaranga gigantea yaitu 28 biji dan jumlah biji terendah yang ditemukan adalah jenis Villebrunea rubescens, yaitu sebanyak 7 biji.

The Impact

This study aims to describe the profile of vegetation diversity in the mangrove ecosystem in Tamuku Village, Bone-Bone-Bone District, North Luwu Regency. This research is a qualitative research using survey methods. The data collection technique uses the Quadrant Line Transect Survey technique. The data analysis technique uses the thinking flow which is divided into three stages, namely describing phenomena, classifying them, and seeing how the concepts that emerge are related to each other. The results of this study are the profile of mangrove vegetation in Tamuku Village, which is still found 16 varieties of true mangrove vegetation and 7 varieties of mangrove vegetation joined in the coastal area of Tamuku Village, Bone-Bone District, North Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi. The condition of mangrove vegetation in Tamuku Village is currently very worrying due to human activities that cause damage such as the project of normalization of flow, opening of new farms, disposal of garbage, water pollution due to chemicals, and exploitation of mangrove forests for living needs. The impact is ecosystem damage and reduced vegetation area as a place to grow and develop mangroves.
