This research examines nuclear power in the context of sustainable development and assesses the relationship between the structure of energy production in the country and its environmental status. In the article the authors consider the technological and organizational aspects of the nuclear industry, which justify the prospects of this direction. Nuclear power has a low share of fuel costs in the structure of production cost in comparison to other energy sources, as well as a high capacity factor. Investment programs of developing countries include the construction of new nuclear power plants, and investment programs of developed countries include the construction of new ones or modernization of existing ones. According to the created model, the increase in the share of nuclear power in the structure of electricity production has a significant impact on reducing carbon dioxide emissions.

Ecological security is an important issue for sustainable development of mining industry. Uranium mining industry is the base for development of nuclear industry and nuclear power. But uranium mining and processing has larger effect on ecological environment which mainly include tailings, waste rock, waste water, and radiation effects. This paper probes into the role that ecological safety plays in the sustainable development of uranium mining based on analysis of restricting factors on uranium mining in China from the perspective of ecological security. The uranium mining industry in China to achieve sustainable development, we must establish ecological security ideas.

Because Zr is used in the nuclear industry to sheath fuel and as structural component material within the reactor core, it is important to understand Zr's point defect properties. In the present work point defect-impurity interaction has been assessed by measuring the influence of grain boundaries on the width of the zone denuded of dislocation loops in a series of irradiated Zr alloys. Electropolished Zr and its alloys have been irradiated using an AEI EM7 HVEM at 1 MeV, ∼675 K and ∼10-6 torr vacuum pressure. During some HVEM irradiations it has been seen that there is a difference in the loop nucleation and growth behaviour adjacent to the grain boundary as compared with the mid-grain region. The width of the region influenced by the presence of the grain boundary should be a function of the irradiation temperature, dose rate, solute concentration and crystallographic orientation.
