In this research, the anti-corona lacquer with different SiC content was fabricated. The surface resistivity of the lacquer at different voltage levels was measured, and the effect of the SiC content on electrical properties of SiC anti-corona coating was investigated. The results showed that the initial surface resistivity ρs decreased with increasing mass ratio of SiC to resin, while the non-linear coefficient β varied the opposite way. The surface resistivity was improved by adding suitable amount of graphite, which suited the requirements of multiple sections anti-corona structure.

A non-linear ultrasonic study has been carried out to characterise the variation in precipitation phase. An age-hardenable aluminium alloy (2219) has been taken as a model alloy for the present investigation. It is shown that there is a strong correlation between the change in the non-linear coefficient and the change in the precipitated phase. The observed variations in the non-linear ultrasonic parameter have been explained by modifying an existing dislocation-coherent precipitate interaction model for the generation of harmonics in order to account for a weaker dislocation-semicoherent precipitate interaction. In general, the model proposed can be applicable to all precipitation-hardenable alloy systems undergoing coherent to incoherent precipitate phase transition.

In this paper, Self Phase Modulation (SPM) in chalcogenide As2Se3glass Photonic Crystal Fiber (PCF) is numerically studied by combining the fully vectorial effective index method (FVEIM) and Split Step Fourier Method (SSFM). The FVEIM is used to calculate the variation of effective refractive index of guided mode (neff), effective area (Aeff), dispersion and non-linear coefficient (γ) with wavelength for different designs of chalcogenide As2Se3PCF. The FVEIM solves the vector wave equations and SSFM solves non linear Schrödinger Equation (NLSE) for the different designing parameter of As2Se3PCF. In case of Self Phase Modulation (SPM), spectral width of the obtained output pulse at d/Λ=0.7 is 1.5 times greater than width of the output pulse obtained at d/L=0.3 using SSFM. Thus we can get the desired spectral broadening just by tailoring the design parameters of the PCF.

Varistor with TiO2 as the base and SiO2, WO3 and Bi2O3 as dopants were investigated to create a low voltage varistor. The physical, mechanical, microstructural and electrical properties were studied where the concentration of SiO2 was varied but the concentration of WO3 and Bi2O3 was fixed. Physical and mechanical characterization consisted of green and fired density, axial and radial shrinkage and Vickers Hardness. Electrical evaluation on the other hand consisted of non-linear coefficient, breakdown voltage, power loss and clamping ratio. Non-linear coefficient of 2.16, very low breakdown voltage of 5.538V/cm and minimal power loss of 0.0124mW was achieved. It was found that optimum results were achieved with 98.3% TiO2, 0.7% SiO2, 0.5%Bi2O3 and 0.5%WO3.
