The area planted with avocado crops in Colombia has been growing rapidly in recent years, especially for export varieties such as Hass. The increase in planted area coincided with increased phytosanitary problems, where pathogens such as fungi of the genus Verticillium spp. are becoming of economic importance. The objective of this study was to evaluate different control strategies for avocado wilt disease caused by Verticillium spp., under in vitro, net house, and field conditions. Strategies tested included fungicides (benomyl, azoxystrobin, captan, and carbendazim), beneficial and antagonistic microorganisms (Trichoderma sp., and Rhizoglomus fasciculatum), and physical and cultural practices such as solarization, drainage and removal of diseased tissues. Treatments T7fi (pruning-solarization-Trichoderma-mycorrhiza-sucrose-organic matter-drainage) and T8fi (fungicide-pruning-solarization-Trichoderma-mycorrhiza-sucrose-organic matter-drainage), showed the greatest reduction in the area under disease progress curve and Verticillium dahliae inoculum in soil and plant tissues under field conditions. Fruit with extra quality increased 120.8% with T7fi and 108% with T8fi, compared to the control with diseased trees. The highest costs were identified for T7fi and T8fi; however, these treatments also showed the best cost/benefit relationship. Integrated approaches as in T7fi and T8fi showed the best results for Verticillium wilt control. As no fungicides of chemical synthesis are included in T7fi (pruning-solarisation-Trichoderma-mycorrhiza-sucrose-organic matter-drainage), it should be preferred to T8fi, which does include them, to avoid their negative impacts on avocado production.

Verticillium wilt of olive (VWO), caused by the widespread soil-borne fungus Verticillium dahliae Kleb., is currently the most serious disease affecting olive trees (Olea europaea L.) in all production areas. An integrated management strategy using eco-friendly approaches such as genetic resistance and biological control is considered the most advisable approach for controlling the disease in commercial olive orchards. This study evaluated a non-pathogenic strain of F. oxysporum (FO12) and the grape marc compost CGR03 for reducing inoculum density of V. dahliae and the disease progress in two olive cultivars with different VWO resistance levels. The experiment was conducted under semi-controlled conditions, using a naturally infested soil with two inoculum densities of V. dahliae. The biocontrol treatments (FO12 and CGR03) were previously selected out of 220 natural products as two of the most effective treatments against the pathogen. FO12 and CGR03 treatments significantly reduced pathogen inoculum density in comparison with that of the control (P = 0.05), with minimum microsclerotium amounts of 0.13 g-1 for FO12 and 0.53 g-1 for CGR03, during the experimental period. CGR03 reduced the progression of the disease compared with that in the control (P = 0.05), and FO12 achieved complete control of VWO, since no plants treated with this biological control strain developed VWO symptoms. This study highlights the effectiveness of these biocontrol treatments, and the potential use of eco-friendly approaches for control of VWO.

The use of genetic resistance is likely the most efficient, economically convenient and environmentally friendly control method for plant diseases, as well as a fundamental piece in an integrated management strategy. This is particularly important for woody crops affected by diseases in which mainly horizontal resistance mechanisms are operative, such as Verticillium wilt, caused by Verticillium dahliae. In this study, we analyzed the variability in resistance to Verticillium wilt of olive trees in progenies from five crosses: ‘Picual’ × ‘Frantoio’, ‘Arbosana’ × ‘Koroneiki’, ‘Sikitita’ × ‘Arbosana’, ‘Arbosana’ × ‘Frantoio’ and ‘Arbosana’ × ‘Arbequina’ and their respective reciprocal crosses. Additionally, seedlings of ‘Picual’ and ‘Frantoio’ in open pollination were used as controls. In October 2016 and 2018, the fruits were harvested, and seeds germinated. Six-week-old seedlings were inoculated by dipping their bare roots in a conidial suspension of V. dahliae, and disease progress in terms of symptom severity and mortality was evaluated weekly. Additionally, seedling growth was evaluated every two weeks. At the end of the experiment, no significant differences were found for any of the assessed parameters when reciprocal crosses were compared. These results suggest that there is no maternal or paternal effect in regard to the heritability of resistance. In addition, this study identifies the best crosses for obtaining the highest number of resistant genotypes, highlighting the importance of the selection of specific cultivars to optimize the breeding process.


The international experience of integrating building information modeling (BIM) into project management system with innovation implementation accent has been revealed in this article. The events carried out on federal and regional levels concerning the President of Russia directive on building construction industry modernization and construction objects transferring to life cycle management by means of BIM were analyzed. The large company experience of implementing BIM was summarized with describing some examples in different cities and regions of our country and thus the main directions of this technology development were determined. The key points of BIM and project management system pairing and impacting an innovation choice witch determine the project economic efficiency in the integrated management system were shown. The main reports of "Building construction projects technology and management: new practices and prospects" conference by Moscow Trade and Commerce Chamber were reviewed in this direction and problems of the new investment and construction project management technology implementation were shown. The ways to solve these problems were disclosed by work examples of PAO "Sberbank", and successfully working in our country firms Bilfinger Tebodin - BIM design and Beiten Burkhard -jurisdiction support. Some economic efficiency questions of BIM implementation were disclosed in the report delivered by The Plekhanov University of Economics (project and program management base department of Capital Group). Management system suggestions, regarding BIM implementation in Moscow construction were given.
