Intrusions of the Kulumbe River Valley, NW Siberian Traps Province: Paleomagnetism, Magnetic Fabric and Geochemistry

<p>Products of the Permian-Triassic magmatic activity in the Kotuy river valley consist of two contrasting in composition groups: 1) tholeiitic basalts, similar to the main volume of the Siberian Traps; 2) alkaline-ultramafic rocks which are extremely rare in other regions of the Siberian platform. Alkaline lavas and tuffs in the Kotuy river valley are exposed only in limited area (Arydzhangsky and Khardakhsky formations), however, multiphase circular plutons (Kugda, Odikhincha) and swarms of radial and parallel dikes marks the essentially wider territory of the manifestation of alkaline magmatic activity.</p><p>Here we present the preliminary results of the investigation of AMS in the dike complex of alkaline lamprophyres from the Kotuy river valley. The majority of dikes demonstrate I-type of the magnetic fabric, when the medium axes K2 of AMS ellipsoid is orthogonal to the contact of intrusion. In dikes where the minimal axis K3 is subvertical and maximal axis K1 is flat, we interpret this magnetic fabric as a result of cooling of the static magma column after the emplacement in the setting of horizontal extension (Park et al., 1988; Raposo and Ernesto, 1995). Also, N-type and R-type of magnetic fabric were identified as well. In some intrusions, the orientation of the axes of AMS ellipsoid changes from the contact zones to the inner part if intrusion. In this case, we used data from the contact zones for the magma flow reconstruction.</p><p>Analysis of the maximal axis K1 orientation in different dikes showed that in majority of bodies it shallowly plunges to the west. This corresponds to the lateral magma flow from west to east during the emplacement. Consequently, formation of the studied dikes is not directly related to Kugda pluton, which is located 8 km eastward. The emplacement of dikes occurred from the magmatic center located westward from the Kotuy river valley and is not associated with any known large massifs. Petrographic similarity of the studied dikes to the lavas of Arydzhangsky formation allows us to suggest that they are coeval. This implies the wider area of manifestation of the Arydzhangsky magmatic stage.</p><p>This work was supported by RFBR (projects 18-35-20058, 18-05-70094, 17-05-01121 and 20-05-00573).</p>

The origin of the Siberian Traps province has been under discussion for the last three decades. Up to now, there is no real model of its formation in a good agreement with geological data on the magmatic evolution at P–T boundary in Eastern Siberia. Modern geochemical data on magmatic rocks around the province is a key to reconstructing magmatic development in time and space. Such data have been obtained for the Norilsk and Meimecha–Kotuy and not for other parts of the Siberian province. For the first time, we studied the geochemistry and mineralogy of magmatic rocks at the Kulyumber river valley, located in the intersection of the Tunguska syneclise and Norilsk–Igarka zone in the NW Siberian platform. In this article, we present data from the Khalil and Kaya sites of this area belonging to the Syverminsky, Gudchikhinsky, Khakanchansky and Nadezhdinsky formations. Their mineralogical and geochemical features (including Sr, Nd and Pb isotope data) are similar to the same formations in the Norilsk area, while the rocks belonging to the Gudchikhinsky formation show differences. The Syverminsky tuffs are also described for the first time. The intrusive rocks are attributed to four intrusive complexes, i.e., Ergalakhsky, Kureysky, Katangsky and Norilsk. The Ergalakhsky complex comprises trachydolerites similar to the trachydolerites of the Norilsk area. The rocks of the Norilsk complex at the Khalil site differ from the rocks of the same complex at the Norilsk area by the (U/Nb)n = 1.8, (La/Yb)n = 2.1 in comparison with 3.7 and 2.3 of the rocks of the Norilsk 1 intrusion. The intrusions of the Kureysky complex are more differentiated than those of the Katangsky intrusions but show comparable TiO2 and trace elements distribution. Thus, the magmatism of the Kulyumber area is characterized by features matching those of the Tunguska syneclise and Norilsk area, i.e., suggesting rift and platform regimes.

Floodplain valley of the Dnieper river midstream is a unique natural complex, having a great bìogeographical, ecological, environmental, historical and recreational values. In 1990, the Natural reserve «Dniprovsko-Orilsky» was established within the area. The Natural reserve «Dniprovsko-Orilsky» is environmentally protected site within the Dnipropetrovsk region, Dnipropetrovsk oblast, Ukraine. This reserve occupies part of the Dnieper river valley and marshy and reedy banks of Protovch river (existing bed of Oril river). It was created by Regulation of the Council of Ministers of the USSR of 15 September 1990, No. 262, based on common zoological and ornitological Nature reserves «Taromskì plavni» and «Obukhovskie zaplavy». On the territory of the Natural reserve «Dniprovsko-Orilsky», they were registered 32 Lepidoptera species listed in the List of Threatened Species at different categories (5 species in IUCN Red List ; 18 in Red Data Book of Ukraine; 7 in European Red List of plants and animals endangered on a global scale; 31 in Red Book of Dnipropetrovsk oblast). The main scientific materials were author’s collections from area of research and materials of entomological funds, Department of Zoology and Ecology, Oles Honchar Dnipropetrovsk National University (mostly Memorial Collection of V. O. Barsov). Field surveys covered all the ecosystems basic on size and degree of protection. The author’s researches have conducted over the past decade during annual expeditions to the Reserve. Taxonomic structure of the complex is quite diverse, and represented by all the major families of higher millers and rhopalocera, having protectedstatus. In relation to taxonomy, this complex formed by representatives of five superfamilies (Zyganoidea, Noctuoidea, Bombycoidea, Hesperioidea, Papilionoidea) from 11 families (Zygaenidae, Saturniidae, Sphingidae, Noctuidae Arctiidae Hesperiidae, Papilionidae, Pieridae, Nymphalidae, Satyridae, Lycaenidae). High taxonomic diversity can be explained by unique geographical location of the reserve in azonal conditions of the Dnieper river valley. Such location allows to enter different zoogeographic Lepidoptera groups on the reserve territory. Zoogeographic analysis of species protected within the reserve territory selected 7 basic groups. It was found that most of the globally rare species have Mediterranean origin (39 %); species of Palearctic origin are in second place (22 %); Western Palearctic and Ponto-Kazakh types of areas are same of number of species, and come third (11 %); and others come 17 % (European, Euro-Siberian, and Holarctic). This fauna component is specific due to presence of so-called «northern» species that make up 40 % (representatives of Palearctic, Western Palearctic, Euro-Siberian, European and Holarctic groups). Their existence within the reserve territory is only possible due to development of boreal valley ecosystems. High taxonomic diversity can be explained by unique geographical location of the reserve in azonal conditions of the Dnieper river valley.
