Dynamic accommodation under natural viewings, such as driving, could be affected by the lighting condition. This study aimed to investigate the accommodation rock after the visual display unit (VDU) activity with and without ambient lighting. It was measured in cycle minute (cpm) with Hart Chart before and after each lighting condition's VDU activity. The VDU activity involved a one-hour visual task in 30 young adults. There was significant different [c2(3) = 23.42, p<0.001, Friedman test] in accommodative rock with VDU activity under different lightings. Low lighting lowered the rapid change of accommodation at different distances under natural viewing.

The basic requirements of any automated system for collecting and processing data for a diary herd are that:-- it must present the information required for day-to-day management in an easy and readily available form.- it will be justified only if the system provides useful management data that would be more costly to produce in other ways or be impractical to obtain manually- it should be built from a simple base with add-on units to a complete system, to allow for various sizes of herd, levels of technical development and cost. (Inputs could be either from manual records or automatic recorders)- it should provide information on a visual display unit, with lists printed when required- accurate identification is essential especially if automatic identification is used- it should be developed to a fully computerized farm recording system.

At the 36th Annual Convention of the International Council of Psychologists (ICP) in Munich (1978), my colleagues introduced me to notions of computerized psychological assessment. These greatly departed from traditional pencil and paper tests with automated scoring techniques. The Marking Sense Reader and Optical Character Reader were replaced by the Visual Display Unit for scoring, tests administration and even biofeedback interface. These ideas were being pioneered in the United States by Dr Kenneth Colby of the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Clinic (in psychiatry) and Professor Colonel Russel N. Cassel of Project Innovation at Chula Vista (in psychology).
