AbstractThe TIGER integral field spectrograph has been used to study nearby and distant active galaxies. We first present new TIGER observations of the Seyfert galaxy NGC 1275. In this very complex object, TIGER allows us to disentangle the contributions of the numerous components. We present the first very promising results on NGC 5252 obtained with the 3-D data-cube deconvolution techniques developed by our team in Lyon.

The flux of narrow 5007 Å [OIII] forbidden line during last 20 years is accepted as a bench-mark for calibration of the continuum and broad-lines fluxes in AGN. But one can not get away from the problem of the forbidden lines variability in these objects. The first report were published by Bardin et al. (1967). Some of the results are revieved by V. Pronik, I. Pronik (1988, 1992). There were 4 years monitoring of [OIII] fluxes variability in the Seyfert galaxy NGC 1275 nucleus (Pronik et al., 1990). Now we reexamine the published data of W. Zheng et al. (1986, 1987, 1988), discussed earlier in supposition of forbidden lines constant in spectra of 11 low-redshifted QSOs. Maximal calibration coefficients adopted by W. Zheng et al. in supposition of [OIII] lines constant were in the interval 2.0–3.6. On the other hand the fluxes errors are about 15%. Disagreement is very high. This is one of the arguments in the forbidden lines variability Tightness.

Recent spectroscopic observations of the nucleus of NGC 1275, together with results from earlier workers, confirm the variability of the emission lines and indicate corresponding variations in the electron temperatures and densities of different zones. These changes may be associated with the microwave outbursts from this source.

AbstractThe nucleus of the Seyfert galaxy NGC 1275 was observed in the B system on 12-1-1989 with seeing 07 using the Zeiss-1000 telescope on Mount Majdanak in Central Asia. Special methods of processing reveal low-contrast details. The nucleus and circumnucleus are stretched in NW-SE direction. There are two narrow filaments near the nucleus in position angles roughly 340° and 320°. The first is directed near the radio jet of the nucleus, the second has broken details curved to the NW or toward the high-velocity system of NGC 1275.

NGC 1275, the Perseus cluster cD galaxy, is a well-known Seyfert 1 galaxy and also one of the strongest extragalactic radio sources (3C84). Although many studies have been done on the extended optical emission-line region of NGC 1275, which is thought to be associated with the X-ray cooling-flow phenomenon (e.g., Heckman et al. 1989, Ferruit and Pecontal 1994), the excitation mechanism of the emission-line gas and two-dimensional gas kinematics are still unclear. We made tri-dimensional spectroscopy of NGC 1275 in order to reveal two-dimensional kinematics and- the relation between the gas motion and the excitation of the emission lines.
