Abstract The electron (anti-)neutrino component of the T2K neutrino beam constitutes the largest background in the measurement of electron (anti-)neutrino appearance at the far detector. The electron neutrino scattering is measured directly with the T2K off-axis near detector, ND280. The selection of the electron (anti-)neutrino events in the plastic scintillator target from both neutrino and anti-neutrino mode beams is discussed in this paper. The flux integrated single differential charged-current inclusive electron (anti-)neutrino cross-sections, dσ/dp and dσ/d cos(θ), and the total cross-sections in a limited phase-space in momentum and scattering angle (p > 300 MeV/c and θ ≤ 45°) are measured using a binned maximum likelihood fit and compared to the neutrino Monte Carlo generator predictions, resulting in good agreement.

The total cross sections as well as the neutrino event rates are calculated in the charged current neutrino and antineutrino scattering off132Xe isotope at neutrino energiesEv<100 MeV. Transitions to excited nuclear states are calculated in the framework of quasiparticle random-phase approximation. The contributions from different multipoles are shown for various neutrino energies. Flux-averaged cross sections are obtained by convolving the cross sections with a two-parameter Fermi-Dirac distribution. The flux-averaged cross sections are also calculated using terrestrial neutrino sources based on conventional sources (muon decay at rest) or on low-energy beta-beams.

We compare the inclusive electron neutrino cross sections, νe+Ni→X + e-, averaged over the Michel spectrum for 12 C , 13 C , 56 Fe and 127 I . We choose these nuclei because terrestrial measurements at LSND and KARMEN have been undertaken for them and these measurements are in reasonable agreement with calculated values. We show that the cross sections increase linearly with neutron number for these nuclei and discuss what this might imply.

The cross sections for neutrino scattering off the 116Cd nucleus have been computed by utilizing the Quasi-particle Random Phase Approximation (QRPA). An- gular and initial energy dependence of the neutrino-nucleus cross sections have been calculated at low and intermediate electron neutrino energies up to 100 MeV. By solving the QRPA equations and fixing the appropriate parameters the lowest lying excitation energies spectrum was reproduced. The contributions from multipole ex- citations was examined. The obtained results could be used for studying the nuclear response of this isotope to supernova neutrino spectra.
