AbstractIn this paper, we first construct the controlling algebras of embedding tensors and Lie–Leibniz triples, which turn out to be a graded Lie algebra and an $$L_\infty $$ L ∞ -algebra respectively. Then we introduce representations and cohomologies of embedding tensors and Lie–Leibniz triples, and show that there is a long exact sequence connecting various cohomologies. As applications, we classify infinitesimal deformations and central extensions using the second cohomology groups. Finally, we introduce the notion of a homotopy embedding tensor which will induce a Leibniz$$_\infty $$ ∞ -algebra. We realize Kotov and Strobl’s construction of an $$L_\infty $$ L ∞ -algebra from an embedding tensor, as a functor from the category of homotopy embedding tensors to that of Leibniz$$_\infty $$ ∞ -algebras, and a functor further to that of $$L_\infty $$ L ∞ -algebras.

We review the basic definitions and properties of two types of n-ary structures, the Generalized Lie Algebras (GLA) and the Filippov (≡ n-Lie) algebras (FA), as well as those of their Poisson counterparts, the Generalized Poisson (GPS) and Nambu-Poisson (N-P) structures. We describe the Filippov algebra cohomology complexes relevant for the central extensions and infinitesimal deformations of FAs. It is seen that semisimple FAs do not admit central extensions and, moreover, that they are rigid. This extends Whitehead’s lemma to all n ≥ 2, n = 2 being the original Lie algebra case. Some comments onn-Leibniz algebras are also made.

The subject of this paper is strongly homotopy (SH) Lie algebras, also known as L∞-algebras. We extract an intrinsic character, the Atiyah class, which measures the nontriviality of an SH Lie algebra A when it is extended to L. In fact, with such an SH Lie pair (L, A) and any A-module E, there is associated a canonical cohomology class, the Atiyah class [αE], which generalizes the earlier known Atiyah classes out of Lie algebra pairs. We show that the Atiyah class [αL/A] induces a graded Lie algebra structure on [Formula: see text], and the Atiyah class [αE] of any A-module E induces a Lie algebra module structure on [Formula: see text]. Moreover, Atiyah classes are invariant under gauge equivalent A-compatible infinitesimal deformations of L.

AbstractWe analyse infinitesimal deformations of pairs $(X,{\mathcal{F}})$ with ${\mathcal{F}}$ a coherent sheaf on a smooth projective variety $X$ over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0. We describe a differential graded Lie algebra controlling the deformation problem, and we prove an analog of a Mukai–Artamkin theorem about the trace map.

Let R be a principal and integral domain. We say that two differential graded free Lie algebras over R (free dgl for short) are weakly equivalent if and only if the homologies of their corresponding enveloping universal algebras are isomophic. This paper is devoted to the problem of how we can characterize the weakly equivalent class of a free dgl. Our tool to address this question is the Whitehead exact sequence. We show, under a certain condition, that two R-free dgls are weakly equivalent if and only if their Whitehead sequences are isomorphic.

In this paper, we introduce two kinds of Lie conformal algebras, associated with the loop Schrödinger–Virasoro Lie algebra and the extended loop Schrödinger–Virasoro Lie algebra, respectively. The conformal derivations, the second cohomology groups of these two conformal algebras are completely determined. And nontrivial free conformal modules of rank one and [Formula: see text]-graded free intermediate series modules over these two conformal algebras are also classified in the present paper.

We construct comparison morphisms between two well-known projective resolutions of a monomial algebra $A$: the bar resolution $\operatorname{\mathbb{Bar}} A$ and Bardzell's resolution $\operatorname{\mathbb{Ap}} A$; the first one is used to define the cup product and the Lie bracket on the Hochschild cohomology $\operatorname{HH} ^*(A)$ and the second one has been shown to be an efficient tool for computation of these cohomology groups. The constructed comparison morphisms allow us to show that the cup product restricted to even degrees of the Hochschild cohomology has a very simple description. Moreover, for $A= \mathbb{k} Q/I$ a monomial algebra such that $\dim_ \mathbb{k} e_i A e_j = 1$ whenever there exists an arrow $\alpha: i \to j \in Q_1$, we describe the Lie action of the Lie algebra $\operatorname{HH}^1(A)$ on $\operatorname{HH}^{\ast} (A)$.

Abstract Let $M$ be a manifold with a closed, integral $(k+1)$-form $\omega $, and let $G$ be a Fréchet–Lie group acting on $(M,\omega )$. As a generalization of the Kostant–Souriau extension for symplectic manifolds, we consider a canonical class of central extensions of ${\mathfrak{g}}$ by ${\mathbb{R}}$, indexed by $H^{k-1}(M,{\mathbb{R}})^*$. We show that the image of $H_{k-1}(M,{\mathbb{Z}})$ in $H^{k-1}(M,{\mathbb{R}})^*$ corresponds to a lattice of Lie algebra extensions that integrate to smooth central extensions of $G$ by the circle group ${\mathbb{T}}$. The idea is to represent a class in $H_{k-1}(M,{\mathbb{Z}})$ by a weighted submanifold $(S,\beta )$, where $\beta $ is a closed, integral form on $S$. We use transgression of differential characters from $ S$ and $ M $ to the mapping space $ C^\infty (S, M) $ and apply the Kostant–Souriau construction on $ C^\infty (S, M) $.

AbstractThe Hurewicz theorem, Mayer-Vietoris sequence, and Whitehead's certain exact sequence are proved for simplicial Lie algebras. These results are applied, using crossed module techniques, to obtain information on the low dimensional homology of a Lie algebra, and information on aspherical presentations of Lie algebras.
