In particular, it is of great importance that teacher candidates are trained to develop awareness of ecology and toprotect ecological systems. Because they are the ones who will be educate future generations. Ecology is generally aconceptual field. In this study, it was aimed to determine the conceptual structures related to ecology of science teachercandidates at cognitive level. The study is a qualitative research carried out by the screening model. The study wascarried out with the participation of 127 candidates’ science teachers. In this study, a word association test (WAT)was used to determine the cognitive structures of science teacher candidates related to “ecology”. Content analysisand descriptive analysis methods were used in the analysis of data. In this data, the frequency table has been formed.Based on the frequency tables prepared according to teacher candidates' responses to WAT, concept networks relatedto ecology have been established. In the preparation of concept networks, cut point technique was used. When welook at the frequency table, it was observed that the key words that teacher candidates associate most with ecologyare living places, functional properties of ecology and biotic factors of ecosystems in ecology. The sentences ofteacher candidates related to ecology are selected and categorized according to the concepts they contain. When thesentences of teacher candidates related to ecology are examined, it is seen that correct descriptions are found but inmany of them there is incomplete information or concept confusion.

Objective: The clinical diagnostic tests are generally used to identify the presence of a disease. The cutoff value of a diagnostic test should be chosen to maximize the advantage that accrues from testing a population of human and others. When a diagnostic test is to be used in a clinical condition, there may be an opportunity to improve the test by changing the cutoff value. To enhance the accuracy of diagnosis is to develop new tests by using a proper statistical technique with optimum sensitivity and specificity. Method: Mean±2SD method, Logistic Regression Analysis, Receivers Operating Characteristics (ROC) curve analysis and Discriminant Analysis (DA) have been discussed with their respective applications. Results: The study highlighted some important methods to determine the cutoff points for a diagnostic test. The traditional method is to identify the cut-off values is Mean±2SD method. Logistic Regression Analysis, Receivers Operating Characteristics (ROC) curve analysis and Discriminant Analysis (DA) have been proved to be beneficial statistical tools for determination of cut-off points. Conclusion: There may be an opportunity to improve the test by changing the cut-off value with the help of a correctly identified statistical technique in a clinical condition when a diagnostic test is to be used. The traditional method is to identify the cut-off values is Mean ± 2SD method. It was evidenced in certain conditions that logistic regression is found to be a good predictor and the validity of the same can be confirmed by identifying the area under the ROC curve. The aim of this study is to determine the anxiety levels of the students studying in the teaching departments and to examine these according to different variables. The sample of the study consisted of 400 non-random sampling methods and 400 prospective teachers who were studying at Dumlupinar University. The personal information form created by the researchers and the data related to the pre-service teachers' concerns about the teaching profession were provided by Caba and Yalçınalp (2009). In the research findings: “Gender”, “Age”, “Satisfaction Status”, “Class”, “Faculty” and “Sports Making Status” showed a significant difference in “OAST” total scores (p <0.05). As a result, it can be concluded that the vocational anxiety levels of the teacher candidates studying in different departments differ according to some variables.Extended English summary is in the end of Full Text PDF (TURKISH) file. Verilerin analizinde; betimsel istatistik yöntemler, Man Whitney U ve Kruskal Wallis testlerinden faydalanılmıştır. Araştırma bulgularında: “Cinsiyet”, “Yaş”, “Okuduğu Bölümden Memnun Olma Durumu”, “Sınıf”, “Fakülte” ve “Spor Yapma Durumu” göre “ÖAYMK” toplam puanlarında manidar farklılık bulunmuştur. Araştırmaya gore, öğretmen adaylarının meslekleri ile ilgili kaygı seviyelerinin değişkenlere göre farklılaştığı sonucuna varılabilir.
