A series of glass samples of the tungsten–tellurite system TeO2-WO3-Bi2O3-(4-x) La2O3-xEr2O3, x = 0; 0.4; 0.5; 0.7; 1.2; 2; 4 mol%, CEr = 0 - 15 × 1020 cm−3 were synthesized from high-purity oxides in an oxygen flow inside a specialized sealed reactor. In all samples of the series, an extremely low content of hydroxyl groups was achieved (~n × 1016 cm−3, more than 4 orders of magnitude lower than the concentration of erbium ions), which guarantees minimal effects on the luminescence properties of Er3+. The glasses are resistant to crystallization up to 4 mol% Er2O3, and the glass transition temperatures do not depend on the concentration of erbium oxide when introduced by replacing lanthanum oxide. Thin 0.2 mm plates have high transmittance at a level of 20% in the 4.7–5.3 µm range, and the absorption bands of hydroxyl groups at about 2.3, 3, and 4.4 µm, which are typical for ordinary tellurite glass samples, are indistinguishable. The introduction of erbium oxide led to an insignificant change in the refractive index. Er2O3-concentration dependences of the luminescence intensities and lifetimes near the wavelengths of 1.53 and 2.75 μm were found for the 4I13/2–4I15/2 and 4I11/2–4I13/2 /transitions of the Er3+ ion. The data obtained are necessary for the development of mid-infrared photonics; in particular, for the design of Er3+-doped fiber lasers.

Investigation on green emission and spectral intensity of tellurite based glass containing erbium oxide NPs is one of the crucial issues. Tellurite based glass containing erbium oxide NPs with the composition of{[(TeO2)0.70(B2O3)0.30]0.7(ZnO)0.3}0.95(Er2O3)0.05has been prepared by using conventional melt-quenching method. The structural and optical properties of the glass sample were characterized by using XRD, FTIR, UV-Vis absorption, and PL spectroscopy. The amorphous structural arrangement was proved through XRD method. The formation of TeO3and BO3units was revealed by FTIR analysis. Five transition states of excitation were shown in UV-Vis spectra which arise from the ground state4I15/2to the excited states4G11/2+2H9/2+4F5/2+4F7/2+2H11/2+4S3/2+4F9/2+4I9/2+4I11/2. The intensity parametersΩt(t=2, 4, 6) are calculated and follow the trend ofΩ2>Ω4>Ω6. Broad green emission at 559 nm under 385 nm excitation was obtained.

Neodymium doped tellurite glass have been proven to be one of the most efficient candidates for photonic application. Nd3+ ions are well known excellent as lasing ions at 1.06μm. However, the efficiency of the lasing activity of the Nd3+ doped tellurite glass need for more discussion especially on the contribution of the atom-atom and atom-ligand bonding based on the Judd-Ofelt theory. Therefore, initiative has been taken in this work to determine the laser efficiency by mean of their oscillator strength and Judd-Ofelt parameters. In order to identify the optical behaviour, good quality of Nd doped tellurite glass should firstly be ready. From the results, it is found that the experimental and calculated oscillator strength results of the glass are found varies from 1.157 x 10-6 to 0.804 x 10-6 and from 2.527 x 10-6 to 2.243 x 10-6 respectively with respect to Nd2O3 composition. The small rms deviation ~10% indicates good fit between experimental and calculated oscillator strength. Meanwhile, the Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters with t = 2, 4 and 6 are found to vary with respect to mol% of Nd content. The 4F3/2→4I11/2 transition for 1.06μm emission which is useful for lasers and optical amplification is totally contributed from electric dipole whereas the magnetic dipole shows no effect. Some other results will be discussed in details.

The excitation, emission spectra and and lifetime of Eu-doped borotellurite glasses (BTe) have been investigated. The sideband phonon energy and electron-phonon coupling strength (g) have been found. The intensity parameters Ωλ were calculated from the emission spectrum. These parameters were used to predict radiative properties such as transition probabilities (AR), calculated branching ratios (βR) and stimulated emission cross-sections (σλp) for 5D0→7HJHFJ transitions.

AbstractThe results of photometry of colour positives of the solar corona of July 11, 1991 are presented. Observations of the white corona were made without radial niters in Jojutla (Mexico). Dependences of coronal brightness on distance in the red (640 nm) and blue (420 nm) wavelength intervals are deduced for different coronal structures up to 3.0-3.5R⊙. The effect of ”reddening“ is noted. The excess of the red emission to the blue one (I640nm/I420nm) is found to be 1.20 and 1.17 at distance of 2.2R⊙for the N-E helmet streamer (P ≃ 37°) and the N-W region of low brightness (P ≃ 339°), respectively.

This paper presents a case study of a language-impaired child who signaled the distinction between English singular and plural using suprasegmental cues rather than the usual segmental form used within the parent language. Acoustic analyses performed within the first study in the paper revealed that the suprasegmental features used to maintain this distinction included various duration, fundamental frequency, and intensity parameters. Acoustic analyses Were also performed on a set of matched two- and four-item plural forms within a second study. The results of these analyses indicated that the same acoustic parameters were used to distinguish two-item plural forms from four-item plural forms. This case of linguistic creativity is offered as further evidence in support of the model of language acquisition that emphasizes the active role children take in the acquisition process. Additionally, the phonological, morphological, and psycholinguistic factors that may contribute to such rule invention are discussed.
