Novel ruthenium(III) complexes with histamine[RuCl4(dmso-S)(histamineH)]⋅O(1a) and[RuCl4(dmso-S)(histamineH)](1b) have been prepared and characterized by X-ray structure analysis. Their crystal structures are similar and show a protonated amino group on the side chain of the ligand which is not very common for a simple heterocyclic derivative such as histamine. Biological assays to test the cytotoxicity of the compound1bcombined with electroporation were performed to determine its potential for future medical applications in cancer treatment.

Selecting lactam 2,6-pyridinedicarboxamide (PDCA) as the ligand and 1,4-butanediol as chain extender, we prepare polyurea polyurethane PDCA-PU; then, introduction of rare earth ion Eu3+ and small molecule ligands 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), synthesized binary and ternary polyurethane composite containing Eu3+, and comparing the fluorescence properties of the material. We investigated the thermal stability and luminescence properties of hybrids and found that the ternary hybrid materials exhibit better thermal stability and stronger emission intensity.

ABSTRACTA block copolymer consisting of liquid crystalline polyester segments and methylated polyamide segments has been synthesized. Solution polycondensation of acid chloride end-capped poly(terephthaloyl phenylhydroquinone) (LCP portion) with an amine terminated poly(N,N'-dimethylethylene sebacamide) was utilized to prepare the block copolymer. Characterization by differential scanning calorimetry, infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, optical microscopy and elemental analysis has been performed to verify the existence of the block copolymer that may have potential as a molecular composite material or self-reinforcing thermoplastic.

In this paper we report the results on synthesis of a composite biomaterial based on biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP) and poly-(DL-lactide-co-glycolide) (DLPLG). Besides, we have investigated the influence of new synthesis method on the structure and characteristics of the composite. The synthesis of biphasic calcium phosphate from Ca(NO3)2 x 4H2O and (NH4)3 PO4 in alkali environment was performed by means of precipitation technique. Composite material BCP/DLPLG was first prepared from commercial granules using chemical methods. Powdered polymer DLPLG was then homogenized at appropriate ratio with addition of biphasic calcium phosphate into the suspension. All samples were characterized by DSC, IR, X-Ray and SEM techniques.
