AbstractLightlike hypersurfaces in semi-Riemannian manifolds admitting concircular vector fields are investigated. We prove that such hypersurfaces are generally products of lightlike curves and warped product manifolds. In special cases, we show that these hypersurfaces are totally geodesic or totally screen geodesic provided such concircular fields belong to their normal or transversal bundles. A number of examples are furnished, where possible, to illustrate the main concepts.

Concurrent vector fields lying on lightlike hypersurfaces of a Lorentzian manifold are investigated. Obtained results dealing with concurrent vector fields are discussed for totally umbilical lightlike hypersurfaces and totally geodesic lightlike hypersurfaces. Furthermore, Ricci soliton lightlike hypersurfaces admitting concurrent vector fields are studied and some characterizations for this frame of hypersurfaces are obtained.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to study the geometry of screen real lightlike submanifolds of metallic semi-Riemannian manifolds. Also, the authors investigate whether these submanifolds are warped product lightlike submanifolds or not.Design/methodology/approachThe paper is design as follows: In Section 3, the authors introduce screen-real lightlike submanifold of metallic semi Riemannian manifold. In Section 4, the sufficient conditions for the radical and screen distribution of screen-real lightlike submanifolds, to be integrable and to be have totally geodesic foliation, have been established. Furthermore, the authors investigate whether these submanifolds can be written in the form of warped product lightlike submanifolds or not.FindingsThe geometry of the screen-real lightlike submanifolds has been studied. Also various results have been established. It has been proved that there does not exist any class of irrotational screen-real r-lightlike submanifold such that it can be written in the form of warped product lightlike submanifolds.Originality/valueAll results are novel and contribute to further study on lightlike submanifolds of metallic semi-Riemannian manifolds.

We show that there exist no proper warped product semi-invariant submanifolds in almost paracontact Riemannian manifolds such that totally geodesic submanifold and totally umbilical submanifold of the warped product are invariant and anti-invariant, respectively. Therefore, we consider warped product semi-invariant submanifolds in the form by reversing two factor manifolds and . We prove several fundamental properties of warped product semi-invariant submanifolds in an almost paracontact Riemannian manifold and establish a general inequality for an arbitrary warped product semi-invariant submanifold. After then, we investigate warped product semi-invariant submanifolds in a general almost paracontact Riemannian manifold which satisfy the equality case of the inequality.

We introduce anti-invariant Riemannian submersions from cosymplectic manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds. We survey main results of anti-invariant Riemannian submersions defined on cosymplectic manifolds. We investigate necessary and sufficient condition for an anti-invariant Riemannian submersion to be totally geodesic and harmonic. We give examples of anti-invariant submersions such that characteristic vector field ? is vertical or horizontal. Moreover we give decomposition theorems by using the existence of anti-invariant Riemannian submersions.

SynopsisThis is a contribution to the general problem of determining the extent to which the geometry of a riemannian manifold is determined by properties of its geodesic spheres. In particular we show that total umbilicity of geodesic spheres determines riemannian manifolds of constant sectional curvature; quasi-umbilicity of geodesic spheres determines Kähler and nearly-Kähler manifolds of constant holomorphic sectional curvature; and the condition that geodesic spheres have only two different principal curvatures, one having multiplicity 3, determines manifolds locally isometric to the quaternionic projective spaces. The use of Jacobi vector fields leads to a unified treatment of these different cases.

Transports preserving the angle between two contravariant vector fields but changing their lengths proportional to their own lengths are introduced as "conformal" transports and investigated over [Formula: see text]-spaces. They are more general than the Fermi–Walker transports. In an analogous way as in the case of Fermi–Walker transports a conformal covariant differential operator and its conformal derivative are defined and considered over [Formula: see text]-spaces. Different special types of conformal transports are determined inducing also Fermi–Walker transports for orthogonal vector fields as special cases. Conditions under which the length of a non-null contravariant vector field could swing as a homogeneous harmonic oscillator are established. The results obtained regardless of any concrete field (gravitational) theory could have direct applications in such types of theories.

The aim of this paper is to investigate Killing magnetic trajectories of varying electrically charged particles in a three-dimensional warped product [Formula: see text] with positive warping function [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] is an open interval in [Formula: see text] equipped with an induced semi-Euclidean metric on [Formula: see text]. First, Killing vector fields on [Formula: see text] are characterized and it is observed that lifts to [Formula: see text] of Killing vector fields tangent to [Formula: see text] are also Killing on [Formula: see text]. Now, any Killing vector field on [Formula: see text] corresponds to a Killing magnetic field on [Formula: see text]. Magnetic trajectories (also known as magnetic curves) of charged particles which move under the influence of Lorentz force generated by Killing magnetic fields on [Formula: see text] are obtained in both Riemannian and Lorentzian cases. Moreover, some examples are exhibited with pictures determining Killing magnetic trajectories in hyperbolic [Formula: see text]-space [Formula: see text] modeled by the Riemannian warped product [Formula: see text]. Furthermore, some examples of spacelike, timelike and lightlike Killing magnetic trajectories are given with their possible graphs in the Lorentzian warped product [Formula: see text].
