In this paper we have used the endochronic theory of plasticity to model one of the most complex phenomena of mechanical behavior of materials, that of cyclic creep and relaxation. We have shown that the theory provides a consistent analytical representation for the observed behavior of metals under conditions of cyclic deformation. This we have done using a simple form of the theory. In particular the hereditary response of the materials has been represented by two heredity functions, E(z) and ν(z). It was found that in the case of copper E(z) may be approximated by a single exponential term while ν(z) is approximately constant in the range of interest.
