Among the compliant platforms, TLP is a vertically moored structure with excess buoyancy, used for deep water oil exploration. In this structure tethers can be tensioned to such an extent that heave, roll and pitch motions of the platform induced by ocean waves are virtually eliminated. SeaStar is new generation of mini tension leg platforms which is similar to a spar and has favorable response features of a TLP. This paper illustrates the results of experimental work performed on a 1/100 scaled model of SeaStar TLP in a wave flume. The study refers to the induced tension in different tendons of the model and the motion response behaviour of the model on different degrees of freedom under several directional impinging random water waves. The results are presented in the frequency domain and the response amplitude operator for each motion of the platform has been calculated.

The uneven temperament of the educational scheme has a subterranean impact on student's academics. Experts are determined to conceive alternatives to meet up with this confront. It necessitates the time that our education system must change the itinerary to prepare the new generation fully equipped with knowledge and skills. This is an experimental study and based on the constructivist approach of learning following 7E's instructional model. Key objectives, to assess the effectiveness of instructions based on 7E's instructional model in student's academic achievements, to compare experimental and controlled group at both pre and post-test phase. Hypotheses were analyzed using spss. It was concluded that 7E's instructional model based instructions are significantly effective in enhancing student's academic achievements in the subject of physical education. The experimental group treated with instructions based on 7E's instructional model made significant improvement as compared to the controlled group.

Acoustic emission (AE) techniques are extensively applied to a variety of fields including civil engineering. Now a new generation of AE techniques, which are able to register and process AE data in real-time, has appeared. Still, there exist some problems to correctly interpreting these data and to completely understand the meaning of AE parameters. In order to solve this, several AE waveform and spectral parameters are investigated, based on an experimental study of concrete and reinforced concrete structures.

Explosion suppression and isolation apparatus act as the last barrier to minimize casualties and property loss. Regrettably, the present techniques, such as water tubs and dust barriers, cannot effectively suppress multiple and continuous explosions. Being a porous medium, foam ceramics are characterized with large porosity and strong resistance against high temperature and shocks. Theoretical analysis and experimental study suggest that, due to numerous collisions with the walls in foam ceramics, the free radicals –generated in the chemical reactions of gas combustion and responsible for flame propagation, can be significantly destroyed, the reactive heat release be restrained, thus making the chemical reactions non-self-sustained. As a result, flame propagation is quenched. Furthermore, foam ceramics can markedly attenuate shock waves. Thus, if properly designed and arranged in the roadways, the material is expected to become a new-generation gas explosion suppression and isolation method in coal mines.
