Abstract A case of a primary neuroendocrine carcinoma arising in the calvarium and involving the bone, dura, and underlying brain is presented. The histopathology and immunohistochemical staining characteristics of tumor were consistent with those of Merkel cell tumor. The natural history and histopathology of this tumor are discussed, along with the possible explanation for the origin of this tumor in the calvarium. (Neurosurgery 26:137-139, 1990)

This is a new case of Merkel cell carcinoma of the vulva. It is a rare neuroendocrine carcinoma with an aggressive behavior. Because of its rarity in this location, it is not clear whether it behaves differently from the usual neuroendocrine carcinomas of the skin. A case of a 63-year-old patient with vulvar Merkel carcinoma is presented. The clinical presentation, microscopic and immunohistochemical features, and treatment are discussed.

A 22-year-old woman who presented with a tumour of the upper eyelid with clinical, histological, immunohistochemical and ultrastructural features of a Merkel cell carcinoma is reported. This is a unique case of Merkel cell carcinoma in such a young patient. This neuroendocrine tumour is typically found in the elderly. It can grow rapidly, has the potential for local recurrence and early metastatic spread. The authors recommend wide resection of the primary site, which proved effective in this case.
