Enteromorpha clathrata “Green tide” widely broke out at Qingdao nearby sea area in 2007 and 2008. It is imperative for researchers to develop effective ways to make full use of “Green tide” bioresources to protect the environment, Conversion of such macroalgae biomass to bio-oil is regarded as a potential way to solve the ecological crisis coupled with supplying materials for bioenergy industry.The pyrolysis characteristics and kinetics of two Enteromorpha clathrata biomass, which are fixed Enteromorpha clathrata, floating Enteromorpha clathrata, were studied with thermogravimetric analysis method. Simultaneously, cornstalk and sawdust were references. The basic pyrolysis characteristics were studied using TG- DTG-DTA curves. The results did show that conversion from Enteromorpha clathrata to bioenergy, which is endowed with promising future, is available, reliable and clean.
