Objective:To translate SCOFF questionnaire in French and evaluate its metrological features for the screening of eating disorders (ED) in a student French population. Methods:SCOFF questionnaire is composed by 5 questions and it has been developed for the screening of ED and Its French version isn't currently available. The translation and the transcultural validation were done using international criteria. The validation study employed the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview as the gold standard and the French version of SCOFF questionnaire (QD-TCA) paper and pencil form was applied to female students attending yearly evaluation in the Students Health clinic. Results:The sample was composed of 120 women with a mean age of 20 years (standard deviation - SD - 3.1 years, range 18-35). Thirteen cases (10.8%) of ED were diagnosed having ED (3 cases (2.8%) of anorexia nervosa and 10 cases (8%) of bulimia nervosa). Diagnostic threshold was calculated using the receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curve and fixated at two positive answers. The sensitivity of QD-TCA was of 92% with a specificity of 91.5%. Its positive and negative predictive values for ED were 57.1% and 99%, respectively. Similar results were obtained for AN and BN. Intraclass correlation-R was of 89%.Conclusion:The French version of SCOFF questionnaire developed by our team (QD-TCA) seems to be a reliable and practical eating disorder's screening tool in a moderate risk student setting.

The aim of this study was to validate the Body Checking Questionnaire (BCQ) in an eating disorder population, using students in psychology as control. Five hundred and seventy-three females (422 controls and 151 eating disorders patients, mean age 24.1 ± 5.9 years) completed the BCQ and measures of eating disorders psychopathology. Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed that the BCQ measures the global construct of body checking with three correlated subfactors. The BCQ has good test-retest reliability (0.90), and the subfactors had good internal consistency (0.90, 0.92, and 0.84). The BCQ correlates with other body image and eating disorders measures, indicating that the BCQ measure has good concurrent validity. Finally, the BCQ reliably distinguishes eating disorders patients from controls, as well as “dieters” from “non-dieters.” The study provides support for factor structure, validity and reliability of the BCQ on eating disorders population and supports the use of this questionnaire in cross-national studies.

ABSTRACT Aggressive behaviour is the most disturbing and distressing behaviour displayed by elderly people. The prevalence of aggressive behaviour is around 50% among psychogeriatric patients. Objective: This study sought to analyze the psychometric properties and diagnostic accuracy of the French version of the Rating Scale for Aggressive Behaviour in the Elderly (F-RAGE). Methods: The F-RAGE was administered to 79 patients hospitalized in a geriatric psychiatry department. A psychiatrist, who was blind to the subjects' RAGE scores, performed the diagnosis for aggressivity based on global clinical impression. The F-RAGE and MMSE were applied by a trained researcher blind to subjects' clinical diagnoses while the Cohen-Mansfield Agitation Inventory and Neuropsychiatric Inventory were administered by medical and nursing staff. Internal consistency, reliability, cut-off points, sensitivity and specificity for F-RAGE were estimated. Results: F-RAGE showed satisfactory validity and reliability measurements. Regarding reliability, Cronbach's a coefficient was satisfactory with a value of 0.758. For diagnostic accuracy, a cut-off point of 8 points (sensitivity=74.19%; specificity=97.98%) and area under curve of 0.960 were estimated to distinguish between aggressive patients and control subjects. Discussion: F-RAGE showed acceptable psychometric properties, supported by evidence of validity and reliability for its use in the diagnosis of aggressive behaviour in elderly.
