Abstract BackgroundEngagement and participation are vital for including experiences, opinions, or expertise regarding the need for action and specifying goals of relevant stakeholders. In recent years, engagement processes have significantly gained in prominence especially in the field of healthcare; and participation has been actively demanded by public health agencies as well as by health research funding organizations. Despite numerous international work and wide agreement on the benefits of stakeholder engagement, there is still limited published empirical evidence on methodological best practices for stakeholder approaches and even less on evaluation or outcomes in the process of developing policy.MethodsOn the basis of previous research on stakeholder discourses and with the German case study at hand, I inferred normative criteria for the evaluation of discourse processes. For the methodological examination, my manuscript presents a comprehensive framework of normative criteria relevant to stakeholder engagement planning, implementation, evaluation and reporting, and to illustrate different evaluation and reporting needs for research on stakeholder engagement, namely, depth of participation, legitimate selection of stakeholders, representativeness, process management, output, role definition, and transparency. ResultsThe developed normative evaluation criteria make the evaluation of an engagement process with a large amount of material possible. My analysis indicates the key facilitating elements and also barriers of this participatory approach, demonstrating the importance of especially deploying the following evaluation criteria: output, representativeness, process management, and transparency.ConclusionThe seven developed evaluation criteria have been effective for the evaluation of the stakeholder discourse on dementia prediction. These evaluation criteria may also be conducive to the evaluation of engagement processes on other health research topics with a large corpus of material. To date and to my knowledge, a comprehensive evaluation framework for engagement processes with experts in the field of assessing biomedical issues is missing in the literature and my work aims at bridging this gap.

This paper is aimed at the problem that the subjective drivability evaluation by experienced test drivers is limited in time efficiency and is of high cost and poor repeatability. In this article, an intelligent drivability objective evaluation tool (I-DOET) for passenger cars with dual-clutch transmission (DCT) is developed and verified by real vehicle testing. First, the signal denoising method and its key parameters, which are suitable for drivability evaluation, are selected based on analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS). Besides, combined with the uncertainty characteristics of subjective judgment, a mathematical model of the objective drivability evaluation FARODE (fuzzy AHP-RS based on objective drivability evaluation) is proposed by using the fuzzy comprehensive assessment (FCA) method. The AHP and rough set (RS) method are used to calculate the subjective and objective weights of the drivability evaluation, respectively, and the proportion of subjective and objective weights is determined by the principle of minimum relative information entropy. The fuzzy matrix is built by membership function of the evaluation indexes. Finally, the static gearshift condition focused on by the subjective evaluation experts is taken as a case study. The predictability score is obtained by combining the drivability quantization lever vector, comprehensive weight, and fuzzy matrix. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method is applicable for objective drivability evaluation in passenger cars with DCT.

Scheduling flexible job-shop systems (FJSS) has become a major challenge for different smart factories due to the high complexity involved in NP-hard problems and the constant need to satisfy customers in real time. A key aspect to be addressed in this particular aim is the adoption of a multi-criteria approach incorporating the current dynamics of smart FJSS. Thus, this paper proposes an integrated and enhanced method of a dispatching algorithm based on fuzzy AHP (FAHP) and TOPSIS. Initially, the two first steps of the dispatching algorithm (identification of eligible operations and machine selection) were implemented. The FAHP and TOPSIS methods were then integrated to underpin the multi-criteria operation selection process. In particular, FAHP was used to calculate the criteria weights under uncertainty, and TOPSIS was later applied to rank the eligible operations. As the fourth step of dispatching the algorithm, the operation with the highest priority was scheduled together with its initial and final time. A case study from the smart apparel industry was employed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. The results evidenced that our approach outperformed the current company’s scheduling method by a median lateness of 3.86 days while prioritizing high-throughput products for earlier delivery.

Based on the experience of CSAL, the need for comprehensive evaluation of books is substantiated: by materials and facilities, level of performance, physical condition and age, circulation, periodicity, and by value in scientific and sociocultural aspects.

Designing programs to address poverty and inequality for Australian Aboriginal communities over recent decades has proved problematic. There is a need for greater consideration of different cultural perspectives. A culturally appropriate evaluation framework can provide a range of strategies to embrace cultural difference. Evaluation anthropology, one of many culturally appropriate approaches, emphasises understanding of socio-cultural environments and contexts, and reflective practice to draw attention to cultural bias. This paper will define evaluation anthropology and then reflect on its usefulness in establishing an evaluation framework for a preliteracy program located in a remote Aboriginal community in Australia. The aims of the program are to improve school readiness through developing preliteracy (English language) skills in children aged 0-3 years. Developing an evaluation framework for the program required an approach that accounted for the socio-cultural aspects of literacy development. The lessons from this case study demonstrate the need for place-specific theory to inform program design and evaluation practice.
