In order to expand photoresponse range of TiO2, reduce energy consumption of semiconductor material optical catalytic, certain amount of rare earth element Erbiun was doped during preparation of anatase titanium dioxide to improve the light absorption and photocatalysis efficiency. A series of rare earth element doped TiO2 material were prepared by sol-gel process, and characterized by means of UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectra. UV-vis absorption verified that doping of Er3+ enhanced absorptive capacity of catalyst in visible region. The photocatalytic performance of anatase titanium dioxide and rare earth element Erbiun doped with TiO2 to basic fuchsin were studied.

Titanium dioxide has a special feature: anatase, to rutile transformation which was considered in our investigations. It is especially important to keep anatase form of titanium dioxide for photocatalytic materials, different ceramics with tribo-chemical properties, self-cleaning coatings and self-sterilizing coatings. For that only one of the titanium dioxide forms is more suitable – anatase, which is more active but not stable, because it transforms to rutile during the time or with the temperature increase loses its activity. Different methods of stabilising anatase have been considered in the paper. Several doping agents have been determined and it was chosen fluorine ion to modify titanium dioxide. Stabilization of anatase is achieved by preparing the reaction mixture by a sol-gel method with hydrofluoric acid. It has shown thermodynamic data, results of experiment, temperatures of anatase to rutile transformation of non-doped and doped titanium dioxide, its X-Ray diffraction and TGA. It is proved that titanium dioxide doped by fluorine ion keeps anatase form till the temperature is more than 1000 °C.

Series of the samples with nominal compositions Bi 3.2 Pb 0.8 Sr 4 Ca 5 Cu 7 O x and Bi 3.2 Pb 0.8 Sr 4 Ca 5 Cu 7 O x / Ag (10 wt%) were prepared by the standard solid state reaction at the same calcination and sintering temperature and time. Three starting mixtures were used, carbonates, oxides and silver i) with nanoparticles, ii) with micrometer size of particles and iii) powder obtained by modified sol-gel process. The main phase in all samples was Bi -2223 and silver formed the separate phase. The sol-gel process was found to be effective way in term of porosity, bulk density and connectivity of the grains. The effect of the microstructure on the transport properties were described by the temperature dependence of resistivity and critical current densities.
