The aim was to evaluated anatomical and symptom specific outcome measures of prolapse repair with PROLIFT ® (Gynecare). In this longitudinal prospective observational study we collected data on a total of 85 women with pelvic organ prolapse stage 2 or more. Objective success rate was 85.9% at 6 months respectively. Patients required a blood more 500 ml - 7,1% and need transfusion. The mesh erosion rate or the displacement of the mesh were 3,5%. Vaginal surgery with prolift mesh® is an effective and safe procedure to correct pelvic organ prolapse over one year follow up.

Objective: To report the neglected pessary in a patient with pelvic organ prolapse. Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is one of the most important medical challenges in women especially elderly. One of the conservative treatments of symptomatic POP is pessary placement. Case report: A 84-year-old woman, para 10 was referred to female pelvic floor clinic of an academic hospital for vaginal bleeding and neglected vaginal pessary. Vaginal examination in the pelvic floor clinic revealed an entrapped ring pessary in severely atrophic vaginal mucosa with purulent discharge. Conclusion: Although pessary is the first choice and one of the best conservative treatment for pelvic organ prolapse, it shouldn’t be used for poor cooperative patient who cannot comply with regular follow-up visits which may cause harmful complications.

Aims: This was performed to examine pelvic organ prolapse using POP-Q technique and correlate pre-existing urinary symptoms with segments of pelvic organ prolapse. Methods: All patients admitted with pelvic organ prolapse were included. Patients were asked regarding any concomitant urinary symptoms and then all patients were examined by POP-Q technique and correlation of urinary symptoms was done with various segments of pelvic organ prolapse. Results: Eighty patients were studied in one year duration. Majority of patients had presented with stage 4 prolapse (58.8%). Majority of patients had urinary symptoms among which 87.5% had increased urinary frequency, 88.8% had dysuria, 65% had stress urinary incontinence (SUI), 72.5% had incomplete evacuation. Dysuria and SUI was found to have significant correlation with anterior segment prolapse (p<0.05%). Conclusions: Site specific measurements by POP-Q system showed anterior segment prolapse to be more and were significantly associated with various urinary symptoms.Nepal Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology / Vol 8 / No. 2 / Issue 16 / July-Dec, 2013 / 26-29 DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3126/njog.v8i2.9765
