The survival rate of the patients in medical emergencies depends on the minimize ambulance arrival time on-sites and promptly provides medical care to the patients. Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances play a critical role in reducing the fatal and severity rate of emergency patients. The several areas in big cities always encounter with traffic congestion, which is a significant obstacle for ALS ambulances to achieve their service time window target (predetermine as less than 8 min). In light of prior research, arranging appropriate parking locations can solve such a problem. This study proposes a mathematical model of facility location problem to identify the ALS ambulances parking locations. This paper simultaneously considers the minimize of the total number of ALS ambulance parking locations while covering the service areas and service time window are fulfilled. One part of business centers in Bangkok was chosen to correct the data and test the proposed model. This study is distinguished from others in these areas by the only possible parking places, i.e., schools, temples, police stations, and gas stations, which are taking into consideration. IBM ILOG CPLEX Optimization Studio Version 12.6.1 was utilized to solve the problem. The result indicates that there are 26 parking locations, which can enable the service coverage areas. As well as achieve a 54% service time window target.

Besides routing and packing plans, synthetically considering the requirements of customers about service time is absolutely necessary. An order split delivery plan can not only better satisfy the service time requirements, but also improve the full-load rate of vehicles. The split delivery vehicle routing problem with three-dimensional loading constraints (3L-SDVRP) combines vehicle routing and three-dimensional loading with additional packing constraints. In the 3L-SDVRP splitting deliveries of customers is basically possible, i.e., a customer can be visited in two or more tours. The vehicle routing problem with three-dimensional loading constraints that are based on the time window and considering split delivery of orders (3L-CVRPTWSDO) and its optimization algorithm are studied in this paper. We established mathematical model of the problem and designed the tabu search algorithm. Based on the examples used in Gendreau et al. (2006), examples was constructed to test our algorithm. The experimental results have expressed that, in the 3L-CVRP problem, the results of split delivery is better than those of non-split delivery, and it is easier to satisfy the time window constraints. The algorithm in this paper generates high quality solutions, it provides a effective method to solve the 3L-CVRPTWSDO problems.

New applications of a fuzzy expert system (FES) for direct control of traffic lights in the areas of locks and one-way sections on inland waterways are presented. FES implements the knowledge of experts in the field of water transport on a controller. FES-SL (application in ship locks) was created for a single-chamber two-way ship lock. The system decides when the lock process will be performed depending on the current requests and queues. FES-1WS (application in one-way sections) was created for a canal network with sections where one-way vessel traffic is allowed due to the width limitation. The system is applicable for different traffic densities (from 10 to 90 vessels per day) and different lengths of one-way sections (from 2km to 24km).

Abstract. The goal of the study was to explore event-related potential (ERP) differences during the processing of emotional adjectives that were evaluated as congruent or incongruent with the current mood. We hypothesized that the first effects of congruence evaluation would be evidenced during the earliest stages of semantic analysis. Sixty mood adjectives were presented separately for 1,000 ms each during two sessions of mood induction. After each presentation, participants evaluated to what extent the word described their mood. The results pointed to incongruence marking of adjective’s meaning with current mood during early attention orientation and semantic access stages (the P150 component time window). This was followed by enhanced processing of congruent words at later stages. As a secondary goal the study also explored word valence effects and their relation to congruence evaluation. In this regard, no significant effects were observed on the ERPs; however, a negativity bias (enhanced responses to negative adjectives) was noted on the behavioral data (RTs), which could correspond to the small differences traced on the late positive potential.

Abstract. When two dot arrays are briefly presented, separated by a short interval of time, visual short-term memory of the first array is disrupted if the interval between arrays is shorter than 1300-1500 ms ( Brockmole, Wang, & Irwin, 2002 ). Here we investigated whether such a time window was triggered by the necessity to integrate arrays. Using a probe task we removed the need for integration but retained the requirement to represent the images. We found that a long time window was needed for performance to reach asymptote even when integration across images was not required. Furthermore, such window was lengthened if subjects had to remember the locations of the second array, but not if they only conducted a visual search among it. We suggest that a temporal window is required for consolidation of the first array, which is vulnerable to disruption by subsequent images that also need to be memorized.
