Abstract Five commercial samples of synthetic aryl phosphate oils, which are widely used as fire retardant hydraulic fluids and as flame retardant plasticizers, have been analyzed by combined gas-liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (GLC/MS). Each sample contained at least 4 isomers of aryl phosphate esters. The peaks were identified by a close examination of the mass spectral data and, wherever possible, by comparing retention times of the peaks with those of either the purchased or synthesized compounds. One aryl phosphate hydraulic fluid contained a small amount of a hydrocarbon. The results indicate that most of the aryl phosphate esters in the commercial samples were formed from phenol, cresols, xylenols, and other alkyl phenols. No free phenols could be detected in the samples analyzed.

A new diterpene glycoside with six β-D-glucopyranosyl units was isolated from the extract of the leaves of Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni, which was identified as 13-[(2- O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-β-D-glucopyranosyl)oxy] ent-kaur-16-en-19-oic acid-[2- O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-3- O-(2- O-β-D-glucopyranosyl)-β-D-glucopyrano-syl -β-D-glucopyranosyl) ester (1) based on the extensive NMR (1H and 13C, COSY, HSQC, and HMBC) and mass spectral data as well as hydrolysis studies.

We report here an easy, efficient and green synthetic protocol for the (E)-1-aryl-3-(2-morpholinoquinolin-3-yl)prop-2-en-1-ones by the Claisen-Schmidt condensation of 2-morpholinoquinoline-3-carbaldehyde and different substituted acetophenones by using 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (Bmim)BF4. The compounds were characterized by using 1H NMR, 13C NMR and mass spectral data and screened there in vitro antimicrobial activity against different bacterial and fungal organisms.
