A line source technique has been developed for non-steady-state measurements of the therm al conductivities of liquids over an extended range of temperature. The accuracy of the method, which is an absolute one, has been critically exam ined. T hermal conductivities of liquid benzene, toluene, diphenyl, o-,m - and^p-terphenyl, estimated to be accurate to + 0*25 % , have been obtained. These results are discussed in terms of the effect of structure on the transport properties of liquids and the relation between the coefficient of thermal expansion and the temperature dependence of thermal conductivity.

Laser ablation processes in liquid benzene, toluene and carbon disulphide have been investigated by pulsed photoacoustic technique using 532 nm radiation from a frequency doubled Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. The nature of variation of photoacoustic signal amplitude with laser energy clearly indicates that different phenomena are involved in the generation of photoacoustic effect and these are discussed in detail. Our results suggest multiphoton induced photofragmentation as the most plausible interaction process occurring during laser ablation in these liquids.

A new method proposed in this paper to compute the fitness in Genetic Algorithms (GAs). In this new method the number of regions, which assigned for the population, divides the time. The fitness computation here differ from the previous methods, by compute it for each portion of the population as first pass, then the second pass begin to compute the fitness for population that lye in the portion which have bigger fitness value. The crossover and mutation and other GAs operator will do its work only for biggest fitness portion of the population. In this method, we can get a suitable and accurate group of proper solution for indexed profile of the photonic crystal fiber (PCF).
