AbstractSatellite and in situ measurements of the sea surface and the atmosphere often have inadequate sampling frequencies and often lack consistent global coverage. Because of such limitations, reanalysis model output is frequently used in atmospheric and oceanographic research endeavors to complement satellite and in situ data. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA’s) Goddard Earth Sciences Modern-Era Retrospective Analysis for Research and Applications version 2 (MERRA-2) and the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) interim reanalysis (ERA-Interim) datasets provide accurate, complete fields through the assimilation of many atmospheric and surface observations. Still, the reanalysis output data must be rigorously and continuously evaluated to understand their strengths and weaknesses. To this end, this study evaluates sea surface skin temperature (SSTskin) and atmospheric temperature and humidity profiles in MERRA-2 and ERA-Interim data through comparisons with independent Marine-Atmospheric Emitted Radiance Interferometer (M-AERI) and radiosonde data from the Aerosols and Ocean Science Expeditions (AEROSE) cruises, focusing on the representation of spatial and temporal variability. SSTskin values are generally in good agreement with corresponding M-AERI measurements, with the average differences on the order of 0.1 K. Comparisons between MERRA-2 and ERA-Interim relative humidity and air temperature profiles with a total of 553 radiosondes that have been withheld from data assimilation schemes show good correspondence below 500 hPa: the average air temperature difference is <2 K and the average relative humidity discrepancy is within 10%. These results support the use of these MERRA-2 and ERA-Interim reanalysis fields in a variety of research applications.

An investigation had been done to Tetragonula (Tetragona) sp nest at Indralaya, South Sumatra to describe the Tetragonula sp nest that use streetlight pole as nest medium during April - May 2019. Purpossive sampling is used to select the target nest. Two streetlight pole found be used by Tetragonula sp as their home. The coordinate of location, heght from ground surface, diameter of streetlight pole, air temperature and humidity, and floral species around nest, were noted. Spot coordinate are S 30 14’ 19.2498’’ and E 1040 39’ 15,3288’’ ; 1,5 m above the ground surface, 12 cm diameter pole, highest air temperature was 35 o C at daylight (April and May 2019), 80 – 90 % humidity at April-May 2019; which Switenia macrophyla, Hevea brasiliensis, Zea mays, and Citrullus lanatus floral species are planted around. Air temperature in the pole is very high, around 40 0 C during daylight.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the microencapsulation of pequi pulp by spray drying. A central composite rotational design was used in order to evaluate the effect of the independent variables: inlet air temperature, surfactant concentration and modified starch concentration. The dependent variables were assumed as yield of the process and the product features microencapsulated. A selection of the best process condition was performed to obtain the best condition of a product with the highest vitamin C and carotenoids content. Powders showed moisture content below 2%. The experimental values of hygroscopicity, yield, water activity, total carotenoids and vitamin C powders ranged from 7.96 to 10.67 g of adsorbed water/100g of solids, 24.34 to 49.80%, 0.13 to 0.30, 145.78 to 292.11 mg of ascorbic acid/g of pequi solids and 15.51 to 123.42 mg of carotenoids/g of pequi solids, respectively. The inlet air temperature 140°C, the surfactant concentration of 2.5% and the modified starch concentration of 22.5% was recommended as the selected condition. By the scanning electron microscopy, it was observed that most of the particles had spherical shape and smooth surface.
