A new compound, BaGa4O7, is found by cooling from the melt. Part of the A3BC10O20 family, it exhibits strong orange-red luminescence emission when doped with Eu3+.

BaGdF5:RE3+ (RE = Ce/Dy/Eu) octahedra were synthesized via a facile ionic liquid/H2O two-phase system. Multi-color emissions have been realized.

The complexes of europium with N-benzenesulphonyl-L-phenylalanine (complex 1), N-benzenesulphonyl-L-phenylalanine and phenanthroline (complex 2) were synthesized and characterized by IR spectroscopy, UV and molar conductivity. The luminescence spectra of two europium complexes were investigated in solid and in DMSO solution, respectively. The results show that complex 1 exhibits low luminescence emission and complex 2 exhibits high luminescence emission in red region. And phenanthroline could enhance the luminescence intensity of europium complexes.

AbstractWe discuss the mechanism of red luminescence from surface-oxidized Si nanostructures. The interface state between crystalline Si and SiO2 surface layer plays an essential role in efficient visible luminescence. The crystalline Si nanostructures with a disorder potential of interface states show complicated luminescence properties.
