Low-crystalline Co3O4 porous nanosheet arrays (PNAs) with tetrahedral CoO4 vacancies, grown on carbon fiber cloth (CFC) (Co3−xO4−δ PNAs/CFC), were synthesized. This unique structure endows Co3−xO4−δ PNAs/CFC with improved activity for the oxygen evolution reaction.

Electrodeposited nanoporous Ni(OH)2@Ni film acts as a Janus electrocatalyst for the hydrogen evolution and oxygen evolution reaction, and overall water splitting, exhibiting superior activities and exceptional long-term stability. Theoretical calculations show that the synergistic electrocatalytic effects of Ni(OH)2 and Ni are responsible for the high activities.
