AbstractStafne's bone defects (SBD) are usually asymptomatic and appears as a radiolucent lingual/buccal bone lesions of the lower jaw and are frequently caused by soft tissue inclusion. SBDs bone defects are considered to be an anatomic condition and most often seen in the posterior part the mandible below the mandibular canal. This is a case of anterior mandibular SBD, which was accidently detected in a patient with mandibular fracture.

Osteomyelitis of the mandible is a rare condition and it could be a serious complication of untreated odontogenic infection. Classically, patient with osteomyelitis of the mandible would experience pain and swelling over the affected side of the face. CT is usually indicated when there is extension of the infection into the adjacent soft tissue and fascial spaces which could be the presenting clinical symptom. Hereby, we present a case of mandibular osteomyelitis in an 11 year old girl who presented with pain and swelling in left lower jaw followed by extraction of tooth, diagnosed on CT followed by surgical management. Adenomatoid hyperplasia is a rare lesion of the minor salivary glands recognized by localized swelling that mimics a neoplasm. This so called pseudotumor usually occurring in adults 4th to 6th decade of life mostly, in 80 percent, occurs as a unilateral swelling without ulcer on the hard and soft palate. The pathogenesis of this condition is not well known but local trauma might have a role. In this case report three cases of adenomatoid hyperplasia have been reported to bring attention to this lesion as it is clinically similar to many soft tissue lesions of oral mucosa so should be considered while making a clinical diagnosis. Also, Pathologists should investigate a proper sample size under a microscope not to confuse a normal salivary gland adjacent to salivary gland tumours with Adenomatoid hyperplasia.

Introduction. Radicular cysts treatment involves surgical approach, more or less aggressive. However, treatment of large cystic lesions, including radicular cysts, causes some of dilemmas concerning the choice of the surgical method, especially the degree of radicalism. Case report. We presented a 65-year-old male patient with large radicular cyst in the mandible. A large elliptical multilocular radiolucency, located in the left side of the mandible, being in close vicinity to the mandibular canal, was registered at the orthopantomographic radiography. There was a risk of pathological fracture of the mandible. However, the cyst was completely removed by enucleation without intraoperative and postoperative complications. Conclusion. The presented case support the opinion that careful enucleation of large mandibular cysts may be done without complications, such as damages of surrounding anatomical structures or mandibular fracture. The authors indicate reasons for strong support of the undertaken surgical approach of treating large radicular cysts in the mandible.

Stafne bone defects are asymptomatic lingual bone depressions of the lower jaw. In 1942, Stafne described for the first time 35 asymptomatic, radiolucent cavities, unilaterally located in the posterior region of the mandible, between the mandibular angle and the third molar, below the inferior dental canal and slightly above the basis mandibulae. In this study, the clinical and radiological characteristics of 2 cases of Stafne bone defects were described. Orthopantomograph and CBCT were used for diagnosing the defects. The bone defects of two patients in this study were asymptomatic and any other bone lesions, such as cysts and tumors, were excluded because no signs of inflammatory or tumoral changes were evident Therefore, surgery was not considered and the patients were followed for 1 year. Stafne bone defect was an incidental finding, presenting no evolutionary changes, and as such conservatory therapy based on periodic controls was indicated. Currently, complementary techniques such as CT are sufficient to establish a certain diagnosis.

Stafne bone defects (SBDs) are asymptomatic mandibular lingual bone depressions mainly caused by soft tissue inclusions. The most common form of SBDs is posterior; the anterior variant of SBD is relatively uncommon. Although posterior SBD is easily diagnosed by the unique location on radiography, anterior SBD is sometimes misdiagnosed and confused with other pathological entities owing to the location. We report herein a case of simultaneous unilateral anterior and posterior SBDs. In the present case, definitive diagnosis for the anterior mandibular cavity was unclear, as in reported cases. Surgical exploration was thus performed for the lesion in the anterior mandibular cavity. Pathologic examination of the removed tissue showed salivary gland with chronic inflammation. Postoperatively, no functional disturbance has been observed. Management of the posterior SBD was conservative, with radiographic follow-up. To the best of our knowledge, this represents the first report of simultaneous unilateral anterior and posterior SBDs.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to report a case of mandibular cementoblastoma with radiologic approach  and describe its characteristics. Case Report: A 32-year-old female came to the Hospital  and  complained of swelling of the left side of the lower jaw. Clinical examination showed a strong swelling in the buccal region of teeth 44-45, with the same soft tissue color as the surrounding tissue. In the picture cone beam computed tomography appears as a rounded lesion, the internal structure of the radiointermediet with clear and firm boundaries, surrounded by a halo radiolucent. Cementoblastoma radiodiagnosis is established. The patient was referred for surgery. Conclusion: Cementoblastoma was a benign tumor with radiographic characteristics in the form of clearly demarcated radiopaque lesion with radiolucent halo. Some early-stage lesions can show lower density.
