AbstractIn recent times, for successful resolution of space discrepancies, a plethora of interceptive measures involving nonextraction approaches have been employed judiciously. Immaculate diagnosis and treatment planning help to prevent failure in diagnosing a case of space discrepancy and space regaining. This article describes a case in which space loss in the posterior quadrant of mandibular arch was successfully regained by employing King Appliance space regainer in an adolescent male, following which successful eruption of unerupted tooth took place. Additionally, after 1 year of follow-up, no marked reduction in arch dimension was seen.

Mucoceles arising from the Blandin Nuhn glands are uncommon benign lesions of the oral cavity, which by their clinical presentation may be confused with more serious diseases such as vascular lesions, pyogenic granulomas, polyps, or squamous papillomas; thereby, it is convenient to be aware of the characteristics of this entity to guide the accurate and timely diagnosis and treatment. Herein, we present a case of a 10-year-old patient with a recurrent lesion of this type, which required surgical excision and marsupialization of the same, with no evidence of recurrence during follow-up.

Generalized gingival enlargement in children interferes with the eruption of teeth. It may lead to difficulty in mastication and phonetics. Very few cases of generalized gingival enlargement associated with eruption of teeth in as young as 10 year old child had been reported in literature. The pathphysiology for occurrence of gingival enlargement with eruption of teeth is not clearly established. Generalized gingival enlargement was present in a 10 year old girl since the eruption of permanent teeth. The gingival biopsy was done followed by full mouth gingivectomy of maxillary and mandibular arch. The histopathological picture showed hyperplastic tissue. The treatment of gingival enlargement at early stage leads to exposure of teeth. The treatment resulted in improvement in mastication and establishing the aesthetic smile of the 10 year old child. This case represents systematic evaluation of gingival enlargement followed by gingival biopsy and gingivectomy. The management of gingival enlargement in children is challenging and requires systematic follow-up.

AbstractSkeletal   malocclusion affects dental and facial tissues. A complicating factor for diagnosis  and treatment of skeletal class III malocclusion is its multifactorial etiology. Genetics play an important role in determining the facial morphology of an individual. Prediction of a skeletal class III based on  morphology can play an  important step in orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning. This case report further supports the significant role of genetics in skeletal class III malocclusion. As seen in our case the skeletal class III if left untreated does not detiorate  but rather shows a decrease in ANB ie  anterioposterior  discrepancy. Hence the need for treatment should be analysed thoroughly in skeletal class III patients.

Purpose: Edentulism has been demonstrated to have negative social and psychological effects on individuals that include adverse impacts on facial and oral esthetics, masticatory function and speech abilities, that when combined, are translated into significant reductions in patients’ quality of lives. It is well-known that immediate placement of implants is a challenging surgical procedure that requires proper treatment planning and surgical techniques. Therefore, the present study describes a 4-year follow-up case report where short implants were placed in an atrophic mandibule and were loaded with the utilization of an all-on-four prosthetic protocol. Case report: A 54 year-old woman dissatisfied with her oral and facial esthetics, masticatory function and speech ability came to the implantology clinic of the Positivo University seeking for oral rehabilitation treatment. After detailed physical and clinical examination, a Computer Tomography scan (CT-scan) was performed to determine the patient’s bone ridge density, dimensions and eligibility for the placement of dental implants. The CT-scan results have indicated the presence of an extremely atrophic mandibular bone ridge. The CT-scan was also used as an aid during the final restoration treatment planning in terms of vertical dimension of occlusion, masticatory function, and stabilization of the lower denture. An all-on-four protocol supported by short implants was then treatment-planned to reduce time, costs and morbidity, and also to achieve superior immediate esthetic results and masticatory function. To reconstruct the patient’s atrophic edentulous mandibule, 4 short implants, including 2 distally tilted, were placed with a final torque of 45 Ncm. Results: Following the development and implementation of a complex treatment plan, the patient displayed stable soft and hard tissues at 4-year postoperative follow-up assessment, demonstrating the effectiveness of the all-on-four technique supported by short implants. Conclusion: Within the limits of this study, the present case report demonstrated that the all-on-four prosthetic protocol with immediate loading on short implant was effective in an atrophic mandible over a 4-year follow-up.

Fetal ovarian cysts (FOC) are the most common intra-abdominal masses during fetal ultrasonography performed on the fetus. With conservative follow-up after detection, it is usually seen that it shrinks and disappears within a few months after birth without any procedure. Although the earliest period in which FOC can be detected is reported as the 19th gestational week, most FOCs are diagnosed at 28th gestational week. FOCs that do not shrink during follow-up and have a cyst appearance complicated by imaging tests may cause ovarian torsion, ovarian loss and infertility. In this study, it is aimed to discuss FOC diagnosis and treatment methods according to the current literature in the light of case reports.
