China’s construction industry developed rapidly and safety production has become a vital issue. Improving the safety behavior of construction workers is an important measure to effectively decrease construction safety accidents. At present, a New Generation of Construction Workers (NGCWs) born after 1980 has gradually become the main force of construction companies in China and the special group characteristics coming from the intergenerational difference may make them behave differently in safety-related activities, therefore, it is very important to study how to promote their safety behavior. This paper aimed to explore the influencing mechanism of job satisfaction on the safety behavior of NGCWs and examine the mediating role of safety knowledge sharing and work engagement. Confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling analysis were applied to test the theoretical model. Empirical research results indicated that job satisfaction can effectively promote safety behavior through safety knowledge sharing and work engagement. Safety knowledge sharing plays a complete mediating role between job satisfaction and safety compliance behavior, as well as between job satisfaction and safety participation behavior. Moreover, work engagement plays a complete mediating role between job satisfaction and safety participation behavior, which can provide valuable management references for China’s construction companies to strengthen their safety behavior.

Crew leaders and foremen on construction job sites are skilled individuals that are dwindling in numbers due to the push on students throughout their secondary schooling to attend college, in addition to other economic factors. The focus of this research is to determine what incentives construction companies implement in order to retain, motivate and increase the productivity levels of their skilled crew leaders and foremen. This study utilizes the Delphi method, which consists of questioning a panel of experts in a series of rounds—with the summaries of responses from each round made available to each of the experts—until a consensus is reached. The Delphi method allows a researcher to utilize the expertise of a smaller population sample than traditional statistical methods, but has gained worldwide acceptance as a substitute for some of those traditional methods. Each construction company operates in a unique, independent manner as they compete to attract and then retain these valuable workers. The main goal of this research is to investigate this as an economic issue, and determine if offering more, or larger, incentives to the skilled crew leaders and foremen is worth the additional cost. The purpose of this paper is to describe how the Delphi Method was utilized to accomplish this.

PurposeThis research aims to examine the role of knowledge sharing (KS) as mediation in the relationship between transactional leadership (TSL) and organizational creativity (OC) among construction workers in Jakarta.Design/methodology/approachThe population in this research was the construction workers working in Jakarta. The sample used in this research consisted of 210 respondents. The validity of the hypothesis model was analyzed using the structural equation modeling–partial least squares (SEM-PLS) approach with the help of SmartPLS 3.2.8.FindingsTSL affects KS and OC. Another most important thing is that KS acts as a partial mediator for the relationship of TSL to OC.Originality/valueOriginality in this research is the use of variable KS to mediate the relationship between TSL and OC in the research conducted in the scope of construction in Jakarta. Other theoretical implications for TSL are added by this research. This research has never been conducted in the construction sector in Jakarta, Indonesia.

This review paper deals with the use of statistical methods to evaluate systematic and random errors associated with trigonometric parallaxes. First, systematic errors which arise when using trigonometric parallaxes to calibrate luminosity systems are discussed. Next, determination of the external errors of parallax measurement are reviewed. Observatory corrections are discussed. Schilt’s point, that as the causes of these systematic differences between observatories are not known the computed corrections can not be applied appropriately, is emphasized. However, modern parallax work is sufficiently accurate that it is necessary to determine observatory corrections if full use is to be made of the potential precision of the data. To this end, it is suggested that a prior experimental design is required. Past experience has shown that accidental overlap of observing programs will not suffice to determine observatory corrections which are meaningful.

So können klassische Fort- und Weiterbildungskonzepte die Dynamik der Wissensentwicklung in der Pflege kaum noch abbilden. Insbesondere für Führungskräfte gilt es, trotz zunehmender Arbeitsverdichtung eine Kultur des lebenslangen Lernens für Pflegende zu fördern. Das in den USA durchaus verbreitete, im deutschsprachigen Raum dagegen nahezu unbekannte Konzept «Lunch and Learn» soll hier vorgestellt werden.
