The transport properties and the dynamics of the flux lines have been investigated on YBaCuO melt textured by measuring the AC susceptibility harmonics as function of the temperature, at different frequencies and amplitudes of the AC magnetic field. The interpretation of the behavior of the experimental curves has been done by their comparison with the results obtained by critical state pictures and by simulations of the diffusion processes of the magnetic field which determine the AC response in presence of different regimes of flux dynamics. The temperature dependencies of the third harmonics of the AC susceptibility at different frequencies have been used in particular to determine what is the flux dynamic regime governing the magnetic response of melt textured samples in the different experimental conditions. A good qualitative agreement has been found between the experimental curves and the ones simulated by assuming that dissipation processes are a sequence of independent flux creep and flux flow events within a collective pinning framework.

Three radical cation salts of BDH-TTP with the paramagnetic [ReF6]2− and diamagnetic [ReO4]− anions have been synthesized: κ-(BDH-TTP)4ReF6 (1), κ-(BDH-TTP)4ReF6·4.8H2O (2) and pseudo-κ″-(BDH-TTP)3(ReO4)2 (3). The crystal and band structures, as well as the conducting properties of the salts, have been studied. The structures of the three salts are layered and characterized by alternating κ-(1, 2) and κ″-(3) type organic radical cation layers with inorganic anion sheets. Similar to other κ-salts, the conducting layers in the crystals of 1 and 2 are formed by BDH-TTP dimers. The partial population of positions of Re atoms and disorder in the anionic layers of 1–3 are their distinctive features. Compounds 1 and 2 show the metallic character of conductivity down to low temperatures, while 3 is a semiconductor. The ac susceptibility of crystals 1 was investigated in order to test the possible slow relaxation of magnetization associated with the [ReF6]2− anion.

The intergranular properties of ( Y 1-x-y Zr x Ca y) Ba 2 Cu 3 O 7-δ ceramics were studies by using temperature-dependent ac susceptibility measurements at zero dc magnetic field. The intergranular critical current density was determined from ac susceptibility data by varying the field amplitude H ac . From the imaginary part of the complex susceptibility, χ″(T), we have determined the temperature dependence of the critical current density by using the Bean's model. The ac field dependencies of the intergrain χ″-peak temperatures T p are linear and agree with Müller critical state model. The results were analyzed in terms of superconductor-insulator-superconductor (SIS)-and superconductor-normal-superconductor (SNS)-type models for granular superconductors.
