The radial sensitivity of the elastic scattering of the weakly-bound 6 Li and halo 6 He nuclei on medium-mass 64 Zn target and heavy target 208 Pb is examined around the Coulomb barrier energies. We present that very good agreement between theoretical and experimental results have been obtained with small χ2/N values. The fusion cross-section and volume integrals of the potentials have been deduced from the theoretical calculations for all studied systems at relevant energies. We have also analyzed the elastic scattering of the 6 He +208 Pb system at E lab = 14, 16, 18, 22, 27 MeV in order to investigate whether there is a dispersion relation between the real and imaginary parts of the optical potential.

An experimental overview of reactions induced by the stable, but weakly-bound nuclei 6 Li , 7 Li and 9 Be , and by the exotic, halo nuclei 6 He , 8 B , 11 Be and 17 F on medium-mass targets, such as 58 Ni , 59 Co or 64 Zn , is presented. Existing data on elastic scattering, total reaction cross sections, fusion, breakup and transfer channels are discussed in the framework of a CDCC approach taking into account the breakup degree of freedom.

Elastic scattering and breakup angular distribution measurements for the systems 6,7Li + p were performed at the MAGNEX facility of the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare-Laboratori Nazionali del Sud (INFN-LNS) in Catania, in the energy range of (2.3–5.4)AMeV. The breakup channel was identified and quantified adopting the algorithm MULTIP.Within this algorithm which is a Monte Carlo simulation code, the history of the breakup fragments can be tagged from the rest frame of the decay nucleus itself to the laboratory frame. Angular distribution data of both elastic scattering and breakup were analyzed under the same theoretical model and the influence of continuum on the elastic channel was investigated.

A generalized optical potential for elastic scattering induced by light weakly bound nuclei is calculated within the Feshbach projection operator method. The model explicitly takes into account the contribution of the projectile break-up continuum treated within a microscopic cluster model. The model is tested on deuteron and 6Lielastic scattering by different targets at intermediate energies. The optical potentials are then calculated for the 6 He(230 MeV) +12Creaction treating the projectile nuclei within two (α + 2n) and three (α + n + n) cluster models. The differences are analyzed.
