An experimental overview of reactions induced by the stable, but weakly-bound nuclei 6 Li , 7 Li and 9 Be , and by the exotic, halo nuclei 6 He , 8 B , 11 Be and 17 F on medium-mass targets, such as 58 Ni , 59 Co or 64 Zn , is presented. Existing data on elastic scattering, total reaction cross sections, fusion, breakup and transfer channels are discussed in the framework of a CDCC approach taking into account the breakup degree of freedom.

Nuclear physics in the 21st century is driven by a quest to understand the properties of ever more exotic nuclear systems. Unusual structural phenom- ena are observed to arise in light weakly bound nuclei such as 8Li. 8Li has a cluster structure core of 7Li surrounded by a loosely bound neutron which is observed to influence reaction mechanisms near the fusion barrier. Elastic scat- tering provides a vital step towards understanding more complicated reaction mechanisms. In this work, elastic scattering was measured for 8Li + 2°9Bi at energies 2% to 34% above the barrier, allowing extraction of reaction cross- sections. The systematics of the reaction cross-sections of 8Li compared to neighbouring nuclei 6,7,9,11Li are discussed.

Total reaction cross-sections of the two neutron halo nuclei 11Li and 22C elastic scattering from 12C target at E = 30–1000 MeV/nucleon have been analyzed using the eikonal phase shift based, for the first time, on the semi-phenomenological nucleon density. The obtained results reasonably agree with those of previous theoretical calculations as well as the corresponding experimental data.

We investigated the reaction dynamics induced by the 7Be,8B+208Pb collisions at energies around the Coulomb barrier. Charged particles originated by both the col- lisions were detected by means of 6 ΔE-Eres telescopes of a newly developed detector array. Experimental data were analysed within the framework of the Optical Model and the total reaction cross-sections were compared together and with the 6,7Li+208Pb colli-sion data. According to the preliminary results, 7Be nucleus reactivity is rather similar to the 7Li one whereas the 8B+208Pb total reaction cross section appears to be much larger than those measured for reactions induced by the other weakly-bound projectiles on the same target.

The radial sensitivity of the elastic scattering of the weakly-bound 6 Li and halo 6 He nuclei on medium-mass 64 Zn target and heavy target 208 Pb is examined around the Coulomb barrier energies. We present that very good agreement between theoretical and experimental results have been obtained with small χ2/N values. The fusion cross-section and volume integrals of the potentials have been deduced from the theoretical calculations for all studied systems at relevant energies. We have also analyzed the elastic scattering of the 6 He +208 Pb system at E lab = 14, 16, 18, 22, 27 MeV in order to investigate whether there is a dispersion relation between the real and imaginary parts of the optical potential.

The 72,73Ge(n,p)72,73Ga reaction cross sections were measured at the 5.5MV HV Tandem accelerator of  NCSR “Demokritos”, at neutron energies 17.7 and 19.3 MeV by using the activation method. The contamination from the (n,d) and (n,np)  reactions  on 73Ge and 74 Ge, leading to the 72Ge and 73Ge residual nuclei, respectively, has been  taken  into account, implementing the corresponding cross sections from  TENDL-2017. A systematic investigation of the isotopic effect on all Ge isotopes is also presented, from threshold up  to 20MeV, using the present data along with existing data in literature

AbstractThe elastic scattering in the reaction $$^{7}$$ 7 Li+$$^{208}$$ 208 Pb was investigated in the bombarding energy range from 25 to 39 MeV. The real and imaginary parts of the optical potential were analyzed by using a phenomenological potential. A dispersion relation analysis is presented in order to investigate the threshold anomaly effect. It is concluded that $$^{7}$$ 7 Li has an intermediate behavior between the tightly bound nuclei such as $$^{16}$$ 16 O and the loosely bound nuclei such as $$^{6}$$ 6 Li where the lack of the threshold anomaly is unambiguously observed. Reaction cross sections are also extracted from the elastic scattering data and its comparison with the ones of other systems has been performed to draw hints on the effect of the breakup channel.
