Two new species of Calytrix Labill., C. oncophylla Craven and C. uncinata Craven, are described from recent collections of the genus made in Western Australia. The monotypic genus Calythropsis C. Gardner is found to be congeneric with Calytrix, with the following new name provided for the species concerned: Calytrix ecalycata Craven. The sympatry of entities of C. exstipulata DC. in the Kimberley region of Western Australia and the western Northern Territory and its taxonomic implications are discussed.

In the previously monotypic genus Micraira, seven new species are described, all from the Arnhem Land plateau or closely adjoining areas, Northern Territory. All the new species are based on first collections made chiefly in the past 6 years. In distribution the genus is recorded from Western Australia for the first time and the original species (M. subulifolia), previously recorded from Queensland and the Northern Territory, is con- fined to Queensland. A key to the identity of the eight described species is provided. Plants of the genus are considered to have revival properties.

Two new species of shrubs endemic to western and central Australia, respectively, are described as Ozothamnus vespertinus R.W.Davis, Wege & Schmidt-Leb. and O. filifolius Puttock. A dichotomous key to the species of Ozothamnus and Cassinia known from Western Australia and the Northern Territory is provided.

Species of pseudoplesiopine and pseudochromine fishes from the Socotra Archipelago are reported based mainly on collections made in 1999 and 2000. Two species of the pseudoplesiopine genus Chlidichthys Smith are recorded: C. bibulus (Smith) and C. cacatuoides Gill and Edwards. Seven species of the pseudochromine genus Pseudochromis Rüppell are recorded: P. chrysospilus sp. nov., P. leucorhynchus Lubbock, P. linda Randall and Stanaland, P. nigrovittatus Boulenger, P. sankeyi Lubbock, P. socotraensis sp. nov. and an undetermined species (allied to P. punctatus Kotthaus). Pseudochromis chrysospilus belongs to a newly diagnosed P. caudalis-complex; it differs from other members of the complex in various meristic and coloration details. Pseudochromis socotraensis belongs to a newly diagnosed P. dutoiti-complex; it differs from other members of the complex in adult size, various meristic characters and live coloration. Based on both the collection records and additional visual records made in 1999 and 2000 the archipelagic distribution ranges of each species and the biotopes inhabited by them are described. Two additional species are tentatively reported from the Socotra Archipelago on the basis of sight records: P. dixurus Lubbock and P. omanensis Gill and Mee.

The genus Agrotera Schrank, 1802 is revised for Australia and the generic definition is refined based on the male genitalia. The genera Leucinodella Strand, 1918 stat. rev. with L. leucostola (Hampson, 1896) comb. nov., Nistra Walker, 1859 stat. rev. with N. coelatalis Walker, 1859 comb. rev., Sagariphora Meyrick, 1894 stat. rev. with S. magnificalis (Hampson, 1893) comb. nov., and Tetracona Meyrick, 1884 stat. rev. with T. amathealis (Walker, 1859) comb. rev. and T. pictalis Warren, 1896 comb. rev. are removed from synonymy with Agrotera, as they lack the synapomorphies of Agrotera. Two new species, Agrotera genuflexa sp. nov. from Northern Territory, Queensland and New South Wales, and A. longitabulata sp. nov. from Queensland, are described. The taxonomic status of the Australian species of Agrotera is discussed, and a key to all species, based on males, is provided. The adults and genitalia of the new species and some related species are figured.

AbstractPseudodiamesa arctica (Mall.), Heterotrissocladius subpilosus (Kieff.), Orthocladius (s.s.) lapponicus Goetgh., Orthocladius (s.s.) sp., Paracladius quadrinodosus Hirv., Trissocladius tricornis n. sp., and Lauterbornia sedna n. sp. develop from egg to pharate adult in Char Lake. The occurrence of the larvae of 7 additional species is apparently adventitious, All stages of the two new species plus the larvae of P. arctica and P. quadrinodosus are described. The males of T. tricornis are dimorphic and L. sedna is parthenogenetic. New distribution records are given for most of the species. The chironomid fauna of Char Lake is compared with that of other arctic lakes.

Two new species belonging to the precious coral genus Corallium were collected during a series of exploratory cruises to the New England and Corner Rise Seamounts in 2003–2005. One red species, Corallium bathyrubrum sp. nov., and one white species, C. bayeri sp. nov., are described. Corallium bathyrubrum is the first red Corallium to be reported from the western Atlantic. An additional species, C. niobe Bayer, 1964 originally described from the Straits of Florida, was also collected and its description augmented.

This study presents the first records of the subfamily Lestremiinae and the genus Insulestremia Jaschhof in Brazil. Insulestremia, a previously monotypic genus described from the Galapagos Islands, has three species in Brazil: I. sinclairi Jaschhof, I. amorimi sp. nov. and I. amenti sp. nov. The new species are described, the generic concept is reviewed, and a key to the species of Insulestremia is provided.
