Background: Marital infidelity is a crisis for couples and families. identifying an effective treatment approach at the lowest cost can be effective in preventing and intervening in injuries caused by infidelity. Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of emotion-based couple therapy and self-compassion-based therapy on emotion regulation in women affected by infidelity. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was designed as pre-test-post-test with follow-up. The study population included all couples involved in marital infidelity who referred to Iranmehr Counseling and Psychological Services Center in Rasht, Iran in 2020, from which 20 couples were selected as the sample by available sampling method. Granfsky emotion regulation questionnaire was used to collect data and emotion-focused couple therapy sessions and self-compassion-based therapy were performed for 16 sessions of 4 hours (one treatment every two hours) on a weekly basis. After three months of treatment sessions, couples also participated in a follow-up session in order to measure the duration of treatment. Data were analyzed using combined analysis of variance. Results: The results showed that both therapies are effective in increasing the emotional regulation of couples, but there is no significant difference between emotion-oriented couples therapy and compassion-based therapy on emotion regulation (F = 1.57 and P = 0.218). Conclusion: Both treatment approaches in counseling centers were very effective in helping incompatible couples to improve and reduce marital problems, increasing satisfaction, especially in couples affected by infidelit

The psychological functioning of a couple, presenting with marital breakdown and infidelity, initially revealed a regression point involving primitive autistic-contiguous anxieties. Their progress in treatment was tracked using a model of developmental anxieties, designed for use with couples that also provided a container for the therapists. In accordance with this model, the focus in the initial stages of therapy was on the holding and containment aspects of the intervention. As treatment progressed the couple moved from this autistic-contiguous mode of experience into a more paranoid-schizoid one, where the interpretation of a prominent rejecting object and the repudiation of dependency needs were achievable. Later in the therapy, as the infidelity was worked through and the couple struggled with their depressive despair, they once again regressed to the paranoid-schizoid mode, blaming each other for the breakdown of the relationship. Ultimately, however, as the couple (and their daughter) achieved a greater level of separation and individuation, they were able to face their depressive anxieties and begin to work through oedipal issues. An increased capacity to mourn significant losses, which included their country of origin and family ties, facilitated their ability to develop a more interdependent relationship, allowing them to rise out of the ashes of marital infidelity.

Introduction: Marital infidelity is considered a shocking issue for couples and families and common phenomenon for counselors and therapists. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of an integrated model of emotionally-focused therapy (EFT) and Gottmanchr('39')s model in internal cohesion and reduction of controlling behaviors in couples faced with spousal betrayal. Materials and Methods: This quasi-experimental study was carried out on two experimental groups and one control group with a pretest-posttest design. The statistical population of the study included all the women referring to one of the counseling centers in Tehran, Iran, during 2018-2019 due to marital conflicts, problems related to satisfaction, and need for the improvement of marital relationships. The study population was chosen based on purposive sampling after the random screening. The data were collected by the Internal Cohesion Questionnaire and Controlling Behaviors Questionnaire. Descriptive and inferential statistical methods and multivariate analysis of covariance were used to eliminate the effect of pretest using SPSS software (version 22). Results: The obtained results showed that the integrated model of EFT and Gottmanchr('39')s model had a greater effect on the comprehensibility of the experimental groups than that of the control group. Moreover, the findings demonstrated that EFT and Gottmanchr('39')s model had a significant effect on the reduction of controlling behaviors (P<0.001). The results also revealed that the integrated model of EFT and Gottmanchr('39')s model had a significant effect on internal cohesion and controlling behaviors, and this effect was lasting at follow-up (P<0.001). Conclusion: It can be concluded that the combination of EFT and Gottmanchr('39')s therapy is an effective pattern in couples affected by infidelity and can be used as one of the therapeutic or educational methods in couple therapy programs.

In animal cells, the centrosome functions as the primary microtubule organizing center (MTOC). As such the centrosome plays a vital role in determining a cell's shape, migration, and perhaps most importantly, its division. Despite the obvious importance of this organelle little is known about centrosomal regulation, duplication, or how it nucleates microtubules. Furthermore, no high resolution model for centrosomal structure exists. We have used automated electron tomography, and reconstruction techniques in an attempt to better understand the complex nature of the centrosome. Additionally we hope to identify nucleation sites for microtubule growth.Centrosomes were isolated from early Drosophila embryos. Briefly, after large organelles and debris from homogenized embryos were pelleted, the resulting supernatant was separated on a sucrose velocity gradient. Fractions were collected and assayed for centrosome-mediated microtubule -nucleating activity by incubating with fluorescently-labeled tubulin subunits. The resulting microtubule asters were then spun onto coverslips and viewed by fluorescence microscopy.
