Amino functional silica gel was synthesized by in-situ hydrolysis method in the present of silane coupling agent. Then dendrimer-like polyamidoamines based on the silica gel surface (PAMAM-SG) were prepared using Micheal addition of the amino and methyl acrylate, and ester-exchange of ethylene diamine and the ester group. The effects of solution pH, concentration and temperature on the adsorption capacity of PAMAM-SG for Cr3+were studied. The optimum pH range is 4.0-7.0. The adsorption rate decreased with increasing the time, but increased with increasing the temperature. The adsorption capacity increased with increase of the concentration until the adsorption reached equilibrium. The adsorption capacity increased with the generations of PAMAM-SG.

Abstract In the oil-water separation, the difficulty to recover and low hydrophobicity are key limitation factors for practical applications. In this paper, we design Cobalt ferrite hybird Polystyrene divinylbenzene microspheres (CoFe2O4/SDB), which were conducted through in-situ suspension copolymerization. The CoFe2O4 is prepared by low heat solid phase sol-gel method. It had been found that the CoFe2O4/SDB have a spherical structure, good adsorption behavior, highly hydrophobicity and even superhydrophobicity. The adsorption capacity of CoFe2O4/SDB composites could absorb kerosene up to 6 times of its own weight. Interestingly, kerosene can be easily separated from the surface of CoFe2O4/SDB particles with ultrasonic operation. CoFe2O4/SDB particles can still maintain good hydrophobicity and adsorption capacity of kerosene after 11 cycles after drying. With in situ polymerization of St、DVB and CoFe2O4, CoFe2O4/SDB as a promising absorbent of kerosene which has great potential in application of oil-water separation.

In situ formation of two cyclic (alkyl) (amino) carbenes (CAACs) followed by addition of BF3•Et2O provided the first two examples of CAAC–BF3 complexes: 1-(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-3,5,5-trimethyl-3-phenylpyrrolidin-2-ylidene trifluoroborane, and 2-(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-3,3-dimethyl-2-azaspiro[4.5]decan-1-ylidene trifluoroborane. These CAAC–BF3 complexes are robust compounds that are stable to ambient laboratory conditions and silica gel chromatography. They were characterized by spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. In contrast, a CAAC complex with borane (BH3) was readily formed in situ according to 1H and 11B NMR analysis, but did not survive the workup conditions. These results set the stage for further studies of the chemistry of CAAC boranes.
