In this work a novel chaotic system with a line equilibrium is presented. First, a dynamical analysis on the system is performed, by computing its bifurcation diagram, continuation diagram, phase portraits and Lyapunov exponents. Then, the system is applied to the problem of secure communication. We assume that the transmitted signal is an additional state. For this reason, the nonlinear system is rewritten in a rectangular descriptor form and then an observer is constructed for achieving synchronization and input reconstruction. If we assume some rank conditions (on the nonlinearities and the solvability of a linear matrix inequality (LMI)) on the system matrices then the observer synchronization can be feasible. We evaluate and demonstrate our approach with specific numerical results.

Hamiltonian chaotic systems are conservative chaotic systems which arise in many applications in Classical Mechanics. A famous Hamiltonian chaotic system is the H´enon-Heiles system (1964), which was modeled by H´enon and Heiles, describing the nonlinear motion of a star around a galactic centre with the motion restricted to a plane. In this research work, by modifying the dynamics of the H´enon-Heiles system (1964), we obtain a new Hamiltonian chaotic system with coexisting chaotic orbits. We describe the dynamical properties of the new Hamiltonian chaotic system.

Dynamical behaviors of a three-dimensional autonomous chaotic system with two double-scroll attractors are studied. Some basic properties such as bifurcation, routes to chaos, periodic windows and compound structure are demonstrated with various numerical examples. System equilibria and their stabilities are discussed, and chaotic features of the attractors are justified numerically.
