A rigorous formalism for determining the electric dipole polarizability of a three-hadron bound complex in the case that the system has only one bound (ground) state has been elaborated. On its basis, by applying a model wave function that takes into account specific features of the structure of the three-body nuclei and using the known low-energy experimental data for the p–n, n–d, and Λ–d systems as input data, we have calculated the values of the electric dipole polarizabilities of the triton αE(3 H ) and lambda hypertriton [Formula: see text]. We have obtained for the triton polarizability the value 0.23 fm3. It follows from our study that the polarizability of the lambda hypertriton is close to 3 fm3 exceeding the polarizabilities of the ordinary three-nucleon nuclei by an order of magnitude.

Syntheses, properties and structures of nanosized palladium CO/PR 3 -ligated homo- and heterometallic clusters containing up to 165 metal atoms are the focus of this review. The work discussed is primarily that of the authors and their coworkers. We propose that the unparalleled variety of structural types and the distinctive reactivities of neutral Pd n (CO) x (PR 3 ) y clusters composed of zerovalent Pd atoms are a consequence of relatively weak Pd–L(ligand) and Pd(0)–Pd(0) interactions that result from the stable 5s 0 4d 10 closed-shell electron configuration of atomic Pd in its ground state.

The scenario of single particle (proton as well as neutron) states near the Fermi surface of 132Sn has been investigated on the basis of an average one-body potential suitably optimised for 208Pb and then extrapolated to the mass region concerned. The calculation shows excellent agreement with experiment. The ground state charge distribution of the nucleus has also been calculated.

The active materials of organic solar cells are widely recognized to show closed-shell singlet ground state and their electron spin resonance signals are attributed to the defects and impurities. Herein, we disclose the inherent open-shell singlet ground state of donors and the closed-shell structure of acceptors via the combination of variable temperature NMR, electron spin resonance, superconducting quantum interference device and theoretical calculation, providing a new perspective to understand the intrinsic molecular structure in organic solar cells.
