In our letter we deal with the inclusive and exclusive decay of B- meson. The inclusive b→dγ decay has been considered here including the QCD corrections to the Wilson coefficients and the matrix elements of the operators in the effective Hamiltonian. We calculate the O(αs) virtual corrections to the matrix element for b→dγ, taking into account the contributions of the four-fermion operator O2 and the electromagnetic and color dipole type operators. It drastically reduces the large scale dependence of the leading logarithmic approximation. Moreover, while we are considering the exclusive B-→ρ-γ decay, we have taken into consideration both the short distance as well as long distance contributions. Therefore, we have obtained better result for the partial decay width of B-→ρ-γ.

In this review we present the calculation of the splitting rate in flat space of a macroscopic fundamental string either intersecting at a generic angle a Dp-brane or lying on it. The result is then applied, in the context of the string/gauge theory correspondence, to the study of exclusive decay rates of large spin mesons into mesons. As examples, we discuss the cases of [Formula: see text] SYM with a small number of flavors, and of QCD-like theories in the quenched approximation. In the latter context, explicit analytic formulas are given for decay rates of mesons formed either by heavy quarks or by massless quarks.

We review the current status of the determination of the quark mixing angles |Vqq′|, where q=u, c; q′=d, s, b. We consider essentially exclusive decay processes, taking into account the main sources of uncertainties, the available calculations of flavor symmetry breaking for hadronic matrix elements and the possibilities of improvement offered by new experimental results. In some cases we provide full expressions for |Vqq′| in terms of measurable decay properties, which can be useful for new experimental data. Finally, we discuss briefly the effects on the unitarity tests of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix when we consider recent corrections to the determination of |Vud|.

Abstract Angular distributions of the decay B+→ K∗(892)+μ+μ− are studied using events collected with the CMS detector in $$ \sqrt{\mathrm{s}} $$ s = 8 TeV proton-proton collisions at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.0 fb−1. The forward-backward asymmetry of the muons and the longitudinal polarization of the K∗(892)+ meson are determined as a function of the square of the dimuon invariant mass. These are the first results from this exclusive decay mode and are in agreement with a standard model prediction.
