In this paper, an improved channel estimation scheme based on time-domain orthogonal gray complementary training sequence (Golay TS) is proposed to resist subcarrier mutual beat interference in 16-quadrature amplitude modulation multiband orthogonal-frequency-division-multiplexing ultrawide band over fiber (16QAM MB-OFDM UWBoF) systems. The simulation results showed that the performance of system with the improved Golay TS channel estimation scheme was improved by about 1 dB compared with the traditional Golay TS channel estimation scheme, at a bit error rate (BER) of 3.8 × 10−3 after 70 km standard single mode fiber (SSMF) transmission. At the same time, the synchronization and channel estimation performance of Golay TS and the selected frequency-domain orthogonal training sequences (TSs) were compared. The simulation results showed that the performance of system with the TSs channel estimation was improved by about 2.7 dB compared with the improved Golay TS channel estimation.

Two new blind estimation schemes based on decorrelation LMS(DLMS)and time-domain orthogonal LMS(TDO-LMS) algorithms are proposed to solve the problem of convergence in the estimation scheme based on LMS algorithm in wireless mobile communication OFDM systems. These schemes are improved on the traditional LMS algorithm.The factor of TDO-LMS algorithm changes along with the power of signal ,and the decorrelation LMS removes the correlation of the signal.Two methods can get faster convergence and better estimation performance combining with alterable step in the channel estimation of OFDM systems.Simulation shows that the convergence of the schemes proposed is better than that in the channel estimation based on the traditional LMS algorithm obviously.

OFDM usually incorporates pilot tones in the frequency domain (FD) or training symbols in the time-domain (TD) to facilitate channel estimation algorithms. TD channel estimation becomes more attractive in quasi-static channels because channel estimation scheme will optimize the spectral efficiency by re-using the training symbols designated for FD channel estimation. A channel estimation method based on time domain averaging algorithm is proposed. Due to the principle of centralized energy in time domain, the effective channel impulse response length can be detected by setting of threshold for the estimated channel impulse response length. Computer simulation demonstrates the performance of the proposed algorithms in terms of bit error rate performance.
