This paper discusses a firms performance of proactive environmental technology innovation strategy and reactive strategy based on the model. It is proved that a firm can get better payoff if the manager interpret environmental issues as opportunities, comparing the performance of achieving these two strategies. A firm can profit under better communications with the public by managerial interpretations of environmental issues as opportunities trading off the increasing costs. In conclusion, the shareholder should motivate the manager to interpret environmental issues as opportunities for better payoff.

Purpose – This paper aims to investigate the performance of Jiangsu Province industrial technology innovation strategy alliance. Design/methodology/approach – Through a preliminary investigation of 30 Jiangsu industrial technology innovation strategic alliances, this paper analyzed the status and extracted 18 alliances to conduct an in-depth investigation. By grey evaluation method based on center-point triangular whitenization weight function, the paper classified and analyzed alliances. Findings – The results show that university or research institutions-oriented alliance perform better, but the government/enterprise-oriented alliance perform diverse, and majority is rated “general”. Originality/value – The paper succeeds in clustering analysis to Jiangsu Province industrial technology innovation strategy alliance with insufficient data. And according to the result of clustering, it analyzes the causes, which provide value information for the sustainable development of Jiangsu Province industrial technology innovation strategy alliance.

Die and mould technology innovation chain is a chained enterprise cluster which crossing many related links of die and mould technology innovation, and chained innovation is an important method to promote die and mould enterprises’ technology innovation development. Adopting resource tree tool, this paper analyzes die and mould technology innovation’s resource requirements, proposes the construction method of die and mould technology innovation chain, and illustrates an example of one electric tool base’s innovation chain.

In the context of global climate warming, Chinese petrochemical industry undertakes great pressure and responsibilities of CO2 emission reduction under the premise of national energy safety. From international experiences, green and low carbon becomes the development trends of petrochemical industry worldwide. The survey on relevant petrochemical enterprises summarizes the motivations, current ways, difficulties, and expected supports from governments in low carbon technology innovation. Based on the survey, the paper argues that technology innovation require integration of energy conservation, emission reduction and industry upgrading for the target of harmonious development of economy, society and environment. The choices of cost leadership, integration innovation, follower innovation, and industrial cluster are suggested when making innovation strategy by Chinese petrochemical industry.
