With the continuous improvement of security awareness, home security has become the focus of attention. The actual demand for home video surveillance system, designed a cheap, practical, small size and low power consumption of video surveillance systems, this paper uses microprocessor S3C2440 ARM9 core as the core hardware control, embedded Linux operating system with software the control core, and cheap, generic USB camera video capture device as a front end to complete the design of a home video surveillance system.

Instantaneous frequency is an import parameter to diagnose faults of rotating machinery. This paper puts forward an algorithm based Hilbert-Huang Transformation (HHT) to estimate the instantaneous frequency of rotating machinery and develops an instantaneous cymometer based embedded system technology. In order to estimate instantaneous frequency of rotating machinery, the vibration signal is decomposed into a series of intrinsic mode functions (IMF) first by the method of empirical mode decomposition (EMD), then one of the intrinsic mode functions is analyzed with the Hilbert transformation to acquire an estimate value of instantaneous frequency. An instantaneous cymometer is also described in this paper, which is designed to measure the average frequency and instantaneous frequency of rotating machinery in real time. The average frequency is acquired from measuring the cycle of key-phase signal, and the instantaneous frequency is from the above-mentioned method based HHT. The instantaneous cymometer is consisted of an embedded system, which is connected to a PC with an Ethernet. The embedded system is based on an ARM chip (Samsung S3C4510) A/D conversion, EMD and Hilbert transform are completed on the embedded system, and then the results are compressed and sent to the PC by TCP/IP.

Face to the questions in the traditional video monitoring system, this paper proposed the intelligent video surveillance system based on the 3G technology, developed by the embedded system. The system can realize the information transmitted through the 3G network. And the system has the function of remote real-time audio monitoring, remote viewing and download the video data acquisition, and message security alarm.

This paper first analyzes the application area and development of video surveillance system. It analyzes the development trend of current video surveillance system,which is a gradual transition from underdeveloped digital analog hybrid application into digital system . Next, it introduces the development platform of embedded system on Linux. It first expounds what is embedded system. Next it introduces selection processes of hardware platform processor and software operating system from the point of view of hardware and soft ware respectively. In the end,it puts forward a overall design scheme of digital video surveillance system on the basis of combining embedded hardware platform. This scheme basically involves two aspects:the first is the design of the interface between front-end equipment and center platform and the processes of all interfaces basecd on HTTP+XML protocol.

the embedded products with representatives of information appliances for the Internet era has demonstrated good prospects for the embedded market, but also brought new and higher challenges to the embedded system technology, including hardware and software technologies. This paper uses BF531 processor as the example, focuses on its startup mode and flow, and then based on this designs and implements a tailor made Boot Loader, to complete BF531 processor initialization, loading, starting the operating system kernel, and other works.
