AbstractHuman activity recognition (HAR) has received more and more attention, which is able to play an important role in many fields, such as healthcare and intelligent home. Thus, we have discussed an application of activity recognition in the healthcare field in this paper. Essential tremor (ET) is a common neurological disorder that can make people with this disease rise involuntary tremor. Nowadays, the disease is easy to be misdiagnosed as other diseases. We have combined the essential tremor and activity recognition to recognize ET patients’ activities and evaluate the degree of ET for providing an auxiliary analysis toward disease diagnosis by utilizing stacked denoising autoencoder (SDAE) model. Meanwhile, it is difficult for model to learn enough useful features due to the small behavior dataset from ET patients. Thus, resampling techniques are proposed to alleviate small sample size and imbalanced samples problems. In our experiment, 20 patients with ET and 5 healthy people have been chosen to collect their acceleration data for activity recognition. The experimental results show the significant result on ET patients activity recognition and the SDAE model has achieved an overall accuracy of 93.33%. What’s more, this model is also used to evaluate the degree of ET and has achieved the accuracy of 95.74%. According to a set of experiments, the model we used is able to acquire significant performance on ET patients activity recognition and degree of tremor assessment.

Smart homes are one of the Internet of Things (IoT) applications most significant to enable people to operate intelligent devices on the Internet in their homes. However, when users can access an intelligent home system remotely, they have major privacy and confidentiality difficulties to overcome. Nothing has been done to improve the safety characteristics of an intelligent home with current research on authentication approaches. For example, to address these issues and to develop a reciprocal tracking authentication system with a critical aspect of a deal, we recommend an Internet based Smart Home System (IFTTT) model. As a controller and a safety guard, an IFTTT-Home Gateway provides a user with remote access to a Smart Home System within their company. The system is designed for mutual authentication with security features such as anonymity and full advance security by using Elliptical Curve Encryption, Nonces, XOR or cryptographic Hash functions. We also incorporate multi factor authentication (MFA) into the model to ensure more security and preventing privacy leakage.

Abstract The networking operation of intelligent-home products can expand more functions and bring consumers more in-depth interactive experience. The effective integration of interaction design, intelligence and info tech in intelligent-home products can effectively solve the shortcomings and problems of home market products. Based on this, this paper first analyses the concept and value of product functional interaction design, then studies the functional design of intelligent-home products based on interaction design, and finally gives the utilization strategy of interactive design in the functional design of intelligent-home products.

Active rehabilitation is an exercise-based program designed to improve the level of function of people with motor disabilities. The effectiveness of such programs is strongly influenced by the correctness of the exercise execution. An exercise done incorrectly could even lead to a worsening of the health status. For this reason, specialists are required to guide the patient during the execution of an exercise. The drastic reduction of the costs of motion tracking systems has paved the way to the implementation of virtual assistant software able to automatically assess the correctness of an exercise. In this paper 2Vita-B Physical is presented, a rehabilitation software system properly designed to support both 1) the patients, by guiding them in the correct execution of an exercise; and 2) the physiotherapists, by allowing them to remotely check the progress of a patient. The motion capturing in 2Vita-B is performed by using the recently released Microsoft Kinect Azure DK. Thus, the system is easy to use and completely non-invasive. Besides the hardware and software requirements of the system, the results of a preliminary usability evaluation of the system conducted with 29 users is also reported. The results achieved are promising and provide evidence of the high usability of 2Vita-B Physical as home rehabilitation system.

The tremendous development in technology used in our daily life was one of the most important incentives for researchers to add technology that is easy to use and useful in human life, an example internet of things (IoT) and systems of intelligence used in various fields. This article provides an overview of the smart home (SH) study of the Internet of Things as smart homes (SHs) have attracted great interest with communication technology advancements. The intelligent home is an Internet of Things technology that allows the monitoring and control of devices via the Internet using a home automation system (HAS). Followed by the justification for choosing the smart home and smart home engineering, and what are the most used communication protocols for smart homes, whether wired or wireless.
