The energy storage inverter system has the characteristics of nonlinearity, strong coupling, variable parameters, and flexible mode switching between parallel and off grid. In order to improve the control performance of the grid-side inverter of the energy storage system, an improved Linear Active Disturbance Rejection Control (LADRC) based on proportional differentiation is proposed to replace the traditional LADRC in the voltage outer loop control. In this paper, the observation gain coefficient of the sum of the disturbances of the traditional Linear Extended State Observer (LESO) is improved to a proportional differentiation link, which effectively reduces the degree of the disturbance observation amplitude drop and the phase lag, and increases the observation bandwidth of LESO. Compared with traditional LADRC, it not only improves the observation accuracy of LESO for disturbance, but also improves the anti-interference performance of LADRC. Finally, the control effects of improved LADRC and traditional LADRC on low-voltage ride-through at different degrees are analyzed and compared through simulation, which proves the rationality of the controller designed in this paper.

Abstract Low-voltage-ride-through (LVRT) capability is an important criterion for the stability of cascaded multilevel energy storage system (ESS). Based on asymmetrical hybrid ESS, a coordinated operating method is proposed to maintain the phase angle of positive-sequence-voltage of battery cells and capacitor cells. To deal with the asymmetrical chains among three phases, its influence on the power distribution is eliminated by modifying the command of battery cells, then the traditional zero-sequence-voltage injection is feasible for asymmetrical situations. Proposed methods can stabilize the dc-side voltage of capacitor cells, maintaining the output current. Finally, the correctness and effectiveness of proposed methods are proved by experiment.

The paper includes the analysis of the operation of low-voltage prosumer installation consisting of receivers and electricity sources and equipped with a 3-phase energy storage system. The aim of the storage application is the management of active power within the installation to decrease the total power exchanged with the supplying network and thus reduce energy costs borne by the prosumer. A solution for the effective implementation of the storage system is presented. Apart from the active power management performed according to the prosumer’s needs, the storage inverter provides the ancillary service of voltage regulation in the network according to the requirements of the network operator. A control strategy involving algorithms for voltage regulation without prejudice to the prosumer’s interest is described in the paper. Reactive power is used first as a control signal and if the required voltage effect cannot be reached, then the active power in the controlled phase is additionally changed and the Energy Storage System (ESS) loading is redistributed in phases in such a way that the total active power set by the prosumer program remains unchanged. The efficiency of the control strategy was tested by means of a simulation model in the PSCAD/EMTDC program. The results of the simulations are presented.
