This supplement is based on presentations made at the “First International Congress on Nutrition and Athletic Performance” held at the Shaw Conference Centre, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, August 8-11, 2001. This conference was stimulated by an increasing awareness of the potential benefits and risks of diet modification and supplementation for elite athletic performance.
